Are You Using This Forum to It's Full Potential

I know I never used to. It's not just the fact that I intend to come here for a few minutes to find something out and then get caught up in the activities of the forum and before I know it I've been on here hours and got absolutely no work done.

Then there's the stuff I do here. I find myself being attracted to a post because of the headline, I read the OP and a few other posts then the discussion goes off on a complete tangent with no relevance to the OP at all and guess what? I keep reading! Why?

Next there's LSOS Little Shiny Object Syndrome. I'm a sucker for it at times. I just think 'oh I'll have a quick look in the WSO section. Then I spend ages in there looking for god only knows what and either find nothing then chastise myself for wasting so much time when I could have done something constructive that could make me money or I buy something and spend the rest of the day going through it. Either way I've accomplished nothing.

Next there's the time I have spent trying to figure out how to actually use the features of the forum. I know this may sound ridiculous but this was the first forum I ever joined. It took me about 15 minutes to work out how to use the multi quote feature. Then I didn't use it for a long time and it took me another 10 minutes to figure out how to use it again.

There are so many reasons why this forum is bad for us and if you're anything like me you fall prey to many of them. That's why I decided to sort it out. This may sound stupid but I now have a timer that goes off after an hour to tell me enough is enough.

Here's a few thing I've done to make my time on the Warrior Forum more productive.

I have a timer that goes off after an hour. I have to be really disciplined and leave the forum once it goes off. If I'm in the middle of something I pick it up on the next visit.

Just setting this time limit has forced me to make better use of the time here and not to go window shopping in the WSO section also I a thread starts to go on a tangent from the OP I leave unless it's extremely relevant to my current situation.

Finally, I watched the instructional videos in the main discussion forum so I no longer spend ages trying to figure things out.

I you find yourself doing any of the time wasting things I've mentioned above, STOP. You're wasting your time and your money. You could be doing something really constructive that's actually going to bring you in some money instead.

Good post, i could have written most of that post myself. I really like the tip about using a timer, as it is all too easy to spend too much time in here.

This place is a goldmine if you can figure out how to get rid of the noise.

Nice tips.. I agree with the timer point for sure. Some people spend HOURS on here per day which I think is too much for just browsing.

Having closed down many of my social medial profiles to focus on a smaller set of sites, it is good to have the time to see what is going on in this forum once again.

Having a 30 minute timer that makes an audible tick, is a great reminder that your end of session grows ever closer, give yourself this time to go through the sections and then move onto your next daily task.

If you find a golden nugget make a note of it and look at it tomorrow.

I use the timer on my iPod, although I forgot to use it today and spent a little too much time here

I try to check back a couple times everyday for 10 minutes at a time.

One thing that may really shock you is if you time yourself from the time you logon to the time you logoff of the forum for a week. This sort of thing is used in personal finance and dieting, to see how much you're spending or eating.

The mojoriy of people are shocked at how much they actually eat, spend on rubbish or in our case how much time they spend on the forum.

Actually seeing how much time you spend on the forum and comparing it to how much of that time is actually productive can be good leaverage to making better use of the time spent here.
