Direct Linking - Does it say anything about how well a product can convert?

I'm in a niche that I'm not very knowledgeable of, and the only reason I decided to persue it, is because I found a couple of golden keywords that had very low competition. I managed to rank on Page #1 for both of these keywords, and I now recieve around 400 UV's per day, combined.

Before I set up an autoresponder campaign, I want to make sure I can find a product that can convert at 1% or better, through simply direct linking to it. But what I want to know is, does direct linking say anything about how well a product can convert? Can a product that converts at 1:300 through direct linking, convert at 1:30 through email marketing?

It's according to the product. How long the buying cycle is. Is it a product where people need more information in order to make the buying decision? And, finally, the price point. No one needs a series of emails to buy a pack of gum. If you're in the market for a car, however, you need information. Same thing's true online. Products that are more like commodities, email's going to help less. Products that answer a difficult problem (like ClickBank products for health issues), email will probably help the conversion rate a lot.

well, your example leaves a lot of variables open.

first, as a general rule, a list of subscribers will generally convert better than a direct link.

also you have to consider the idea of a marketing funnel. to visit a site takes virtually no work on the users part. to subscribe to a list takes more work, and only a percentage of UV will opt in.

then you get to the people who are actually willing to spend money. which is an even smaller group.

i would suggest you setup a free opt in on your sites and offer them something like (10 secrets about xxx) to get them to subscribe.

then you can use a good followup AR series to build a relationship and promote products.

building you own list is a great way to make your UV today have lasting value to you.

Your first misstep was setting up pages and driving traffic without knowing what you wanted to do with that traffic.

But that wasn't your question, was it?

Direct linking will only tell you how well the product converts for your traffic by direct linking. It won't tell you if email marketing will convert at any specific ratio.

Can a product that converts at 1:300 through direct linking, convert at 1:30 through email marketing?

Sure. No guarantees, though. Too much depends on your ability to connect with these visitors and subscribers, as well as the nature of the product itself.

Now that you've put the work in to create traffic, I would take it in two steps (after picking a product to promote). Set up an opt-in and preliminary AR series. Then:

    1) Work on optimizing your opt-in process. Tweak your offer and signup process to get as high a percentage of visitors opting in as you can. At some point, you'll reach a point of diminishing returns. Now, it's time to

    2) Work on optimizing the clickthrough ratio and presell messages to milk the opt-ins for best results. Do it ethically, but maximize your commissions. You want to find the balance between getting more clicks and losing sales.

    Good luck...

google is a pretty good place to start or use the search function near the top of this site.

Sure. It can also end up converting at 1:600.

    yup.

there is no simple rule that if u do this it will be 1:30 if u do this it will be 1:300.

    there are many factors.

it depends on ur list quality too.
which depends on how u collect ur leads.

    and also ur marketing style.
