High Priced Self-Improvement Infoproducts?

Hey Warriors,

I'm looking at doing some research regarding higher priced self-improvement/self-development infoproducts. I've found a few online and was wondering if any of you might have some suggestions?

I'm looking for products in this niche that are in the $500+ range.

The more popular the better, but at this point, it doesn't matter. Just trying to gather info.

Would appreciate any ideas if you have come across some before. Also, they don't necessarily have to have an affiliate program or anything.

Thanks!

Probably not revealing anything here, but Tony Robbins has products from $15 to $80,000. And coaching at $1,000,000.

That's the only one i know selling high ticket products in the SH niche.

For your research I recommend checking out SelfGrowth.com. It's basically an article directory specifically for that niche. They have over 21,482 contributors.

Thanks Dan, I've been doing some hunting around and you would think I would find more, but I haven't. Surely there are more. I know the self-improvement niche is like a multi-billion dollar industry.

Maybe people who feel they need to improve don't have a strong enough ego to think they are worth big bucks?

Well, people do buy stuff on self-esteem, etc. so that is a given. Those are usually simple books or ebooks. But as far as bigger self-improvement infoproducts over $500...not really seeing them.

Just edited my post to include smilies - just thought it was an ironic idea.

You are right though - I'm not sure why someone would spring that kind of cash for an info product - when live services would be a fraction of the cost.

I can put up an ad for any kind of life coach I want and get live services for around 30 - 50 bucks an hour. I can buy a real book in a real book store for anywhere from $10 to $50 bucks and I can check out the contents and index before springing a buck.

People started marketing IM products for such high prices that they kind of seem surprised when the rest of the world doesn't follow suit. This may be the most real part of the world any more for most of us who work online - but it isn't for most people. If they are going to pay more for information than they can get by ordering a real book - they are going to want a physical product, too.

You want big bucks in self-improvement? -- Gym equipment - spa vacations - classes - or spiritual retreats.

I wouldn't necessarily goes as far to say they don't spend as much on higher ticket items. But yes, you are right as far as it being like the IM niche where there are gobs of programs that are in the hundreds of dollars.

Heck, people can buy cheap books in the store on all kinds of subjects for $10, yet there are still ebooks on the same subjects that sell for 3 to 4x that very easily and quite well.

EDIT: Gayleen, I sent you a PM. Wanted your opinion on something.

Selp help is a tough sell. Tony Robbins product converts less than 1 out of 1000.

You will have better success at finding knuckleheads that will spend $50-$100 a month on books such as from Clickbank and Amazon.

Where do you get this statistic from? I would think it would be better than that considering how well he does and his reputation.

There are a lot of self-help programs available. Dr. Robert Anthony is my personal favortes, but there are many, many of them. Off the top of my head check out: Harv Eker (Millionaire Mind), Bob Proctor, Jim Brtt, Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen -- and the list goes on and on. There are many products that fall in the range you are interested in.

This is a huge industry. Here are some numbers form Wikipeda:
"At the start of the 21st century, "the self-improvement industry, inclusive of books, seminars, audio and video products, and personal coaching, is said to constitute a 2.48-billion dollars-a-year industry"[17] in the States alone. By 2006, research firm Marketdata estimated the "self-improvement" market in the U.S. as worth more than $9 billion — including infomercials, mail-order catalogs, holistic institutes, books, audio cassettes,motivation-speaker seminars, the personal coaching market, weight-loss and stress-management programs. Marketdata projected that the total market size would grow to over $11 billion by 2008.[18] Whether temporarily dented or not by the Credit crunch, the trend would seem likely to continue upwards, with global figures echoing American leadership."

Go to Google and look for self-improvement, self-help, self-development, etc. Many, many people in this industry have books.

Hope they has been helpful. This is my niche - hence I know a fair amount abuot it. I will be re-releasing my book on happiness in a couple of months. In the meantime I have been creating informaton videos for this industry. I have one of procrastination I was thinking of offering as a resale product WSO for some quick cash. Will probably start a thread for some ideas on pricing and other help since this wll be my first one.

Looks like there's a lot of guessing going on here. PD is my niche and has been for several years. These customers absolutely do spend money, my conversion rate is 3% on my main product which is digital and 99 bucks right now. The key is to have a unique approach, mine is VDT. LOTS of cats in this niche just repackage other people's stuff and so they struggle. The second trick is to attach all your products to the outcome of financial prosperity. I've tried every other angle, happiness, confidence, inner peace...nothing even comes close to the promise if financial freedom. I've got products in the 6k range too but those are relational sales. Good luck to ya

Hey Seth, what do you mean exactly by VDT?

I guess that is kinda discouraging to hear that products based on happiness, confidence, etc. have not worked well for you.
