Opt in -- what to send
I think it makes sense to have an opt-in on my website.
My business is not an information product; and some people who opt in will not be people who will buy my service -- some will just be people in the industry interested to hear things.
It's good for me to keep these people happy, because I would like them to refer me when they know somebody who needs my service; and some people who will sign up will be potential prospects too.
So I'd like to send items of interest about the industry, as well as, sometimes, info about my business. This is basically what I write for my blog.
I want to write the emails myself -- because I know my business best -- I don't want to use another writer.
I'm very busy -- I write blog posts, and writing things for opt-ins too is going to be a challenge time-wise.
So my questions:
--- Is it generally acceptable to send, as emailed info to people who have opted in, the first few paragraphs of blog posts, with a link to the blog?
Or would this be considered not very useful email? -- because people can simply subscribe to my blog.
--- What other approaches could I have to writing material for opt-in emails?
--- What might I call it on the website? A 'newsletter' sounds like something different to the blog posts...
Thanks for ideas.
