Time Savers - Has anyone got any things that help them?

Building websites, creating content, researching and everything else involved with Internet Marketing all takes TIME.

One of my biggest frustrations is that I never seem to get all of my ideas and plans going as quickly as I would like.

One of my plans this year, is to cut out more wasted time and really try to make myself as productive as possible.

I am always on the look out for time savers and in the last few weeks I have found some things that have helped me.

Firstly, I came across the software called RoboForm. I didn't implement it straight away. I put it off using it for a few weeks and now that I use it, I am amazed at how much I do use it. Literally, dozens of times a day. It now saves all of my passwords and login details for all of my various websites, merchant accounts and research tools etc. Very helpful.

Another tool I use quite often is at socialmarker.com

It helps speed up my submissions.

I acquired an article rewriter recently and after a bit of time setting it up, it really does help me rework some of my content, so that has been helpful.

This along with the Dragon Speaking Naturally software is a help.

When I create a new site I use one of my dummy site structures that I have already created. I use dreamweaver. All I do is rename some of the files within dreamweaver and it updates all of the links within my site. I don't have to go into each page and do it. Dreamweaver does it all automatically when I change a file name.

Then all I have to do is create fresh content for the site and put it onto each page that is already sitting there waiting for it.

I have an old free shopping cart that I modified, which can easily be put onto each site. I spent hours setting things up years ago, but that investment now pays off as I can just replicate it for a new site. I no longer have to go through a learning curve.

One thing I am not so hot at is building links to my sites quickly enough. This is something I need to try and speed up.

Does anyone have any general things that they do or use, that have proven to be great time savers?

Cheers.

    Outsource!

Take a few warriors up on their offers and let them write articles, do your copy, compose emails for you!

But of course, this will cost money.

    Hi SteadyOn,

While you may be looking for some tools that will help make a particular task go more quickly, this is a little different angle. It's about cutting out the fat in our time diet - i.e., eliminating unproductive time.

I've found a great resource, and am starting to implement the ideas there. I've downloaded, customized, and printed out the free printable cards that can be found there to help organize my time and tasks.

    You can find it here:

Hope this helps you as much as it's helped me!

Of course... autoresponders are a huge time saver!

I have created a file called my "Daily Punch List".

I use it to make sure I have a clear list of things that MUST get done on a day to day basis. It includes all the little "chores" and marketing tasks that I know I need to be sure are handled consistently.

NOW... as I go through that list, I am asking, "Can I give this to someone else to do?" This is building my list of things to be outsourced. That's my next step.

      Hi Doug,

Apparently Roboform is safe. It has very high level of encryption. I have only ever heard very good things about it.

Thanks everyone else for the various ideas.

Another idea I wanted to share was to get an extra screen if your graphic card allows it.

I kept on putting this off and finally bit the bullet and did it. Why didn't I do this earlier.

It should be easy to set up if your graphics card is quite modern. Just google for double monitor set up etc.

Having two screens really stops my workspace feeling cramped and I think it does increase my productivity.

(Also, when I don't have to concentrate I can watch a dvd on one screen whilst working on the other - oh what luxury....)

      Cheers.

    1. Work in small chunks of time, use a desktop timer and take short energising breaks.
    2. Set targets for each chunk of time and set up your own reward system. e.g. 5 minutes forum time for 500 word article
    3. Spend time each evening on planning your schedule for the following day.
    4. Differentiate between important and urgent. (Urgent unimportant tasks are of a low priority!)
    5. Use voicemail to avoid unwanted phone calls.
    6. You don't need to check your email, stats, forum replies, skype messages every 10 minutes!
    7. Focus on your schedule and don't allow others to distract you.

Create an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).

I created a checklist for every single step that I have to take from start to finish for creating and promoting a website. Then as soon as I start a new project, I print it out and just start checking off the boxes one by one.

It also really helps me juggle multiple projects because I can instantly know what step I am at for any given website by simply looking at the checklist.

      Create a time table.

Dedicate a certain amount of time for each of your task.
Try to stick to your time table and get the job done on time

If you follow this very soon you will realize that you have a ton of time on your hands.

Want to submit to directories? Then this one is definitely a timesaver for you: Free Directory Submission Basically, all you have to do is enter captchas and click on the next directory.

Unfortunately, the site is sometimes a bit slow and you get a "CPU usage exceeded" error from their host at certain times of the day, but it's free.
