Aged Domain with backlinks

Hey warriors,
iv just bought some domains from name cheap for the normal price for .com .org & .net, and 3 of the domains iv just bought for cheap are aged from 2005-2007 and one even has 8 backlinks some backlinks are a pr of 2 not that high but seen as though iv just bought them i dont think its too bad,

basically i just wanted to ask if this has happened to anyone before? and is there anything i can do to make the most out of aged domains as i read some were that aged domains are easier to rank for?

If this sounds normal then sorry but im a newbie so like to get answers and learn : )

cheers
Paul

You won't really see results until you get at least 30+ PR3+ of quality aged domains, you have to know what you're doing otherwise you'll blow a bunch of cash on fake page rank domains, also you have to know how to re-purpose them with content, unique IP address, privacy, etc.....quite a bit to know to do it properly.

The domain age is a trivial element in seo and you won't really see any difference because of it. Back when Google use to dance every month or so it was something that was more relevant and help get your new pages indexed quicker, but nowadays Google is constantly dancing and indexing is not a problem so what you have is basically a few domains with a few links - just treat them like new and build your business as you would.

Most of those sites are selling SEO tools and they need to have as many elements as possible to make it seem like it's a hard subject to understand and that you need lots of special tools to work out what to do.

In reality it's very simple and most of the tools are flawed, so you can end up spending a lot of time worrying about all the wrong things and then struggling to get results.

I remember when I first got into seo and was spending ages studying it and working out what all the special little things that helped were - then I spoke to someone else who had started at the same time and they were telling me about how much money they were making. When I asked how they worked it out they just said "all that stuff seemed to complicated for me to understand so I just built sites and put as much useful content on them as I could then tried to spread the word."

SEO is one of those areas of IM where unless it's your primary business you probably know 'too much' and are so in the details you're just not doing the stuff you already know how to do and that works.

So many people come here looking for answers and the latest cool new strategies and spend so much time trying to learn new things that they're actually not doing the ones they already know.

The simple answer to seo is - understand basic on and off-page enough to know to use a CMS like Wordpress (that removes 'most' of the need to think about it) and get your content out there and linked to with decent syndication and advertising.

Don't try to be clever and trick the search engines - just use good site structure and have good content. Once you have that nailed you can brainstorm how best to spread the word and get links, but simple is usually better. For example - having a nice WP template created that's themed for your niche and has a link to your site and giving it away could get you more useful links than anything else you might try - and you do almost no work to make it happen.

If you just use your brain rather than looking for secrets and shortcuts - this stuff becomes much simpler.

@Andyhenry I agree completely. It's like when I was buying all these back-linking software programs and listening to everyone else's advice for getting links and doing SEO all that did for me was put me in a Google sandbox. Of course another reason for that was because I used traffic exchanges.

Anyways as you have said, If you have been around internet marketing awhile you probably already know too much info about SEO. Everyone knows that too much information can be a bad thing sometimes just as much as not knowing enough. When I stopped listening to all the make money online programs and started thinking for myself I found a simple strategy that boosted my search results almost instantaneously and kept them that way. Literally by just using simple strategies I know work I have taken keywords from the 200-300 positions to in the top 20 very quickly.

So yes I say just do the link strategies you know work and don't try to trick google and you will see results quickly!

Age is a factor that goes hand-in-hand with authority, and authority is a factor that goes hand-in-hand with ranking. I'm not saying you HAVE to have an aged domain name to rank well, but it's definitely an important factor in getting ranked for competitive keyword phrases in Google.

Could you please provide the reference you're basing this fact on?

This is not my experience so I'd love to read where this is a fact.

I'm just talking from personal experience here. It's definitely not a huge factor, but it does seem to help. It seems to be easier to get an aged domain name to rank if it has aged content & aged backlinks from within the targeted market. I'm buying new & aged domain names all of the time, and this is just what I have personally experienced.
