First of all, sorry about spelling it "affiate"! I read through some old threads but could not find the answers to some of my q's.

I'm selling $1.99 ebooks right now because that is the price that maximizes my sales on Amazon. And that leads to some affiliate-related questions that I haven't really seen addressed on other threads:

1. Are low-priced ebooks like the above decent candidates for affiliates? (I've noticed a lot of sites using one of my books in Amazon's affiliate program for example.)
2. If so, what percentage would I need to give the affiliate to even get anyone interested?
3. I signed up for e-junkie for the download service. I noticed that they had an affiliate program. Is it worth it to sign up for that? Will any affiliates find me or I have to find them?

Thx for the help: I'm a complete newbie to the affiliate idea...

You will most likely have to some how promote that you have an affiliate program available. Add a page to your site that gives info on how to sign-up and sell your ebooks and also make sure to state how much % their commission will be and how much money they will make

You mean just put an affiliate link at the top of my site as a "menu" option and state the details in there?

Others may have a different opinion but for a book that sells for $1.99 not many affiliates will jump on... even if you offer 100% commission.

Think about it in this way: driving traffic to a low price offer takes as much work/energy as to drive traffic to something that pays way more. That $1.99 is even less after the payment processor takes out its share. Not worth.

The affiliate needs to make approx. 60 sales to get $100, while sending traffic to a product that pays $25, they need to make only 4 sales for the same commission amount.

EDIT. P.S. It's confusing... are you selling it on Amazon or on e-junkie?

That's what I thought you would say.

And I'm selling on both Amazon - I'm the #1 ranked book right now for a certain keyword combo - and on e-junkie...

    Hi Why9999...

    1. Affiliates will promote a low-priced product on Amazon because they can also generate commission on anything else customers may order from the Amazon website.

But it's unlikely that if you pull the ebook off of Amazon that you'll have a lot affiliates wanting to promote a $2 product. The commission is just too low in most instances.

    2. Raise the price to at least $10, give your affiliates half. Don't shortchange your affiliates.

    3. You will have to find them. Although e-junkie does have that directory of affiliate programs, I haven't found it to be terribly helpful in generating affiliates. (But that's just my experience.) I would definitely be prepared to look for affiliates, by submitting your site to affiliate program directories, at the least.

    * FYI, if you start selling ebooks you have on Amazon on your own website, know that Amazon price matches. So if you're selling an ebook for $9.95 on your site (or any other site) they'll also raise the price of the same ebook to $9.95. Just something to be aware of.

    Hope this helps!
