Best Way to Move Content?

I need some advice...

From what I understand, Google will only punish you for dupe content if it's located on the same site.

So, if I want to move content from one part of my site to another, what is the best way to do that without getting penalized? Is there some way to remove the current URL's from Google's index?

For example, let's say I wanted to move my content from

http://mysite.com/article

to

blog.mysite.com/article

Also, I'm not worried about losing traffic to these URLs so no worries there.

I'm not positive that a subdomain inoculates you from the duplicate issue, though it may well.

You haven't detailed why you need to duplicate anyway.

A related solution to multiple links to the same content that gives the look of duplicate content can be made safe for the search engines with the Canonical tag.

Why would you do that? Duplicate Content is Myth and it never got me hit. Just leave it and focus on more important things.
