I did hear of a grey-hat solution. It involved creating a second facebook account. (which is now not allowed).
A yahoo mail account was set up and an email harvester was run to fill the address book of the yahoo email.
When you logged onto your second facebook account, you could import your mailbox from yahoo mail and Facebook would check and tell you if any of those had a facebook account so you could ask them to be freinds.

Very grey hat, almost black. I am telling you this for educational reasons and its not something I did. Facebook has probably cottened on to this and you'll likely get banned.

Last week I tried something on one of my fan pages and it had huge results. I gave away a free item to anyone that would type: "ooh I want that!" onto the wall of the fan page.

When people type anything onto a fanpage wall, it also goes onto their own wall. So this phrase caused a large flow of traffic from curious friends, and also caused a huge spike in the signups for that fanpage.

I created a custom fan page.
basically it tells visitors like my page and get a free ebook.
I got the ebook from a plr site.
This has doubled how many fans I get per day.

I have not used Facebook ads to promote a fan page yet.
I have used it in the past to test out different call to actions.
The problem is the cost per click was like .30-.70.
I just cant see how a cost per click that high will make sense for fan page likes.
I paid a company 79.00 to create the custom fan page.
Im new and not sure if I can post the link to my fan page. If a mod reads this and gives me the ok I will post it so you can take a look.
When starting out I joined every on topic group and liked every on topic fan page.
I began posting relevant comments. I invited 20-50 friends per day from the groups and pages. This got me tons of friends. I then promoted my page to friends. Now it runs on autopilot with about 30-40 new fans per day.
Facebook wont let you invite that many any more so I would only invite like 10 per day

I do not have much facebook experience until one of my client asked me if I can help him with a fan page. I asked my designer if he can do it and he did a cool custom fan page for him. Now I am interested and learning some advanced techniques. I think facebook is a good marketing opportunity.

Share items from other pages, build a relationship with them, and they'll share your content. We've now got nearly 16K fans. The page is 1.5 years old.
