Bash my New Site - please

Yo!

Started this morning and just finished putting this up and want to get feedback, critiques, comments, etc.

Don't sign in on the autresponder because I haven't finished the 7 day course yet and don't have it loaded up.

Just wanted to get general comments about the layout, the look, and the feel.

I mean - I've been working on this since 7:30 this am

All that time invested ya know?

    All in all, I like the overall look and feel.

    On the sidebars, the light gray heading backgrounds make it a little hard to read the text. This might take away attention to the autoresponder form and the other sections there.

    Thanks Greg - I am still trying to figure out how to make that text dark instead of light.

    Just have to figure out where to look in all the WP stuff

      You need to open the style.css file

      Scroll down to -

      #sidebar h2 {
      background: #CFCFCF;
      border: none;
      margin: 0px 0px 5px 0px;
      color: #FFF;
      padding: 2px 0px 2px 10px;
      }

      To make the text darker change #FFF

      Another option is to stick with the white text and make the background darker -

      You need to change the line -

      background: #CFCFCF;

      Change the greyscale #CFCFCF to something darker.

      That will make the white text stand out.

    What is the goal of the site? When I land I'm not sure what I should be doing.

    Too much to look at, too many links to click...

    Can you boil it down and have some sort of "HEY DUDE... DO THIS NEXT?" sort of thing?

    Jonny - I agree - I want that dang optin form to stick out like a sore thumb but I cant find where in all the WP stuff that I can edit the colors - any ideas?

      I'd have to know what you're going for first. What's your end game with this thing? Once you have that you can start laying the page out to be more user friendly

      Video could help as well.

      Nothing wrong with getting on camera and saying "Hi, person who visits my page... this is what you do here..."

    Some quick feedback I took a look at the site it seems to have a lot of good information. Think about how you are using the valuable real estate of your website... Typical web real estate of most value is as the top 1/4, 1/3 of the page and the top part of the right hand side. Think of when you search for something on Google why are the Ads on 1/4 of the page and the top right hand column so much in fee's?

    Do a search on Google for Web Browser Heat Maps to get some different ideas.

    I think you could use this part of your web real estate better try to clean it up give me a reason to stay and dig around and look at the content site. Offer me a place to sign-up for a news letter make it big and simple. Grab my attention before I skim it and go nah next....think of the websites that worked on you?

    I'd move opt-in box up as high as possible. Agree with Jonny that its hard to know where to start on site. What's visitor supposed to do?

    The short video idea is a good one. It could conclude by recommending the visitor sign up to get the 7 lessons etc.

    Personally the long links on top displayed as phrases looks awkward to me.
    It makes the whole header area look crowded and confusing, imo.

    Theres nothing that tells me WHO YOU ARE (My Income Story?) ...and, why should I think you know what you're talking about?
    Frankly I wouldn't know it from a hundred other "Make Money On The Internet" sites.

    I think if you introduced yourself, and told "your income story" (the URL) upfront it would have more power. Graphically its not bad at all, as you chose an attractive template. Good Luck with it!

    The pennies thing was me trying to make an impression that everyone has to start somewhere.

    brucerby - you and someone else suggested a video... I like doing them so maybe I'll film one tomorrow and put up "myincomesotry"

    Oh - one last thing - where I am going with all this is a personal coaching thing, although it will be "canned" as in videos. step by step of course.

    I even want to get into the html and php part just a bit for tracking codes and a few other tips (like putting in an autoresponder code).

    I want to be able to take a noob and get them to at least 1k per month within 30 days. That's the goal.

    Autoresponder form is below the fold in my browser. Granted I have a few toolbars but so do a lot of people. If they don't know what they are doing most everything they download gives them an extra toolbar. I would put the autoresponder top myself and preferably top left instead of the article but certainly top even if on the right.

    Taking the average noob and getting them to 1K a month in 30 days is a tough proposition if you mean profit rather than gross income. They will have some expenses in their first month. Good on you if you can do that :-)

    ok i see bout the pennies... if i recall right that pennies box is kinda large. divide it, put pennies in 1 and ur silver $'s in the other. Then get a funky web2 arrow and say start with this and end with that.
