Anybody still remember the words forum etiquette mattered?

I don't mean posts that disagree with your views and state facts and give their opinion. But you read between the lines in some of the posts and they seem to answer the question and insult you at the same time. you know the type ...I can't believe this garbage, what are you stupid or something?

Just saying it kinda makes old farts like me not want to post, I can imagine how some newbies must feel. Just saying a little etiquette would be nice that's all.

    By my reckoning, people still maintained a respect for forum etiquette a good 2-3 years after any and all respect for grammar, spelling and proper punctuation had been tossed out the window.

    personally, i think its tough and very risky to read between the lines on a fairly fast passed media like this forum.

    sure their are blatant cases, but when you read between the lines a lot, you are reading between those lines via your own paradigm, not necessarily the way the post was intended to be interpreted.

    in fairly short text media like this, when you are often times dealing with people you dont know anything about, its hard to read between the lines and take offense.

    some people are just naturally more sarcastic, and that doesn't mean they were actually intending to offend anyone.

    i am probably one who is a little tough on some new guys when they just post questions that show they have put no effort into their post or even attempted to find the answer for themselves.

    that bugs the heck out of me...my time is valuable too.

    There is just one thing to keep in mind...."you can't make everybody happy"
    There are always disgruntled unhappy people who want to put anybody down with them
    You know that "crabs in a bucket" mindset.
    So what I do is just keep posting and just look for the positive replies and never mind those negative replies
