List talk. Open/Unsubscribe ratio? (let's share. and grow.) ;)

Sup fellas.

I just created a new list (500 members). I sent an e-mail an hour ago and have 60 opens, 5 unsubscribes. Not bad. (my bigger lists have a much worse ratio.)

I was curious if you guys want to share your ratio? (Size of list is and LONGEVITY of list is helpful information when calculating congruence with Open/Unsub ratio.)

I find that ratio is enhanced when I offer valuable information. The first letter I wrote was valuable information that they had requested.

Do you find your ratio to be poorer when you offer a promotion or sale? I do.

I'm curious as hell to hear some of your ratios, just to augment my understanding and factual determination. (and everyone elses.)

Also, was curious if you guys like to double opt in, and have a "registration confirmation" type message?

I don't measure open rates, and use clickthrough rates as
a general indicator - the ONLY number I obsess over is the
conversion to sales (or any other action taken based on
      the click).

      From this week:

      #1: No pitch content - 3.5% clickthrough

#2: Blatant pitch, little text - 9.8% clickthrough

      #3: Longer pitch - 2.7% clickthrough

      #4: Follow up on #3 pitch - 7.5% clickthrough

For all my lists together, unsubscribes last week were 4.

All these lists are double-opt in with a required confirmation
message including a link to click and confirm.

      All success
