Some affilate guidance needed

I'm new to Affilate and I'm struggling with how to set up my blog. Can anyone offer some insight how to develop your position via content and then be able to lead visitors to click on an affiliate link? I'm well aware you need to gain trust but how do you portray this when you are just a garden variety guy?

I mean....I like baseball and want to be involved with baseball mental toughness affiliates, how in the world do I position myself in the blog so people will trust my content or heed my advice? I coached little league for a couple of years but it doesn't make me an expert......then again, maybe being human and a dad that coached would be a great position........

I hope I'm explaining this correctly

Thanks for all the help and feedback

Maybe niche it out to little league baseball coaches... you could even create your own products. Fred McGriff used to be on a baseball drills video - and it sold a ton.

        No prob...

There are lots of dads coaching little league teams for the first time ever - each year.

A great product would be a weekly game plan for them. If the season is 12 weeks long, give them a blueprint for 12 weeks of practice... Week 1, week2, etc...

You could create a free report with the outline of the 12 weeks - then upsell them to video lessons explaining the drills and how to teach them to the kids, etc...

An even better product would be the video series and a team website that has a public and private facing side. The public facing side is for calendar, pictures, etc... the private facing side would have the training videos that the coach could watch - but the parents and kids could watch the videos too...

And another add on could be iphone app - that allows the coach to watch and show the videos on his iphone or ipad - at practice.

        That is all for now.

i think you might need to try thinking about things more from a customer / visitor perspective. your post seems to indicate you are thinking about your business from your end too much and not your customers viewpoint.

what makes you trust a site when you visit various sites? try looking at your competitors and see which ones you would trust more. then try to identify why. now just re-created that on your site.

    hope that helps.

Sorry about my post. Actually I'm trying to see it from my visitors point of view. If I only have 3 seasons of coaching little baseball, why would anyone trust me enough to buy let alone give me their email address.......

I'm passionate about this but I don't have the backing as my experience is probably less than my visitors experience.

Then it makes me think how do affilate marketers have 10+ sites.....how do they position themselves as a trusting source in so many niches?

thats an easy one to answer. they fake it. most affiliates are promoting many products they have never used themselves.

its really about perception. and that doesn't mean you have to lie. it just means you need to create a perception that you are an expert. (hopefully you are to some degree)

and to be an "expert" in things like little league doesn't mean you must have 20+ years experience.

this perception can be aided by things like a high quality ecover graphic for your ebook.

its like the guy selling rolex watches out of his car. your perception is that it must be a fake. but lets be real, somewhere sometime, there probably has been a real rolex sold in this manner.

but the perception of this guys sales methods did nothing to make people think he was a legit rolex salesman.

so if you want to position yourself as an expert you need to have things in order to make you look like an expert.

...they fake it......that's what I thought...thanks for the honesty.....

So at the end of the day, I need to be smart and give the perception that the visitor wants to listen to me because either I'm an expert to some extent OR I found something that has given me an awesome result which will give it to you (the visitor as well).

    Hi Slappy,

Your money will be made from a list of subscribers to your blog. I would immediately create a subscription box on your forums so you can start building a list and customer base.

As Kevin mentioned you should create a free high quality report, ebook, video to give out. This would start building your list and from there the money will start to role in. Your expertise in the market IS valuable, so don't short change yourself or your knowledge of the game.

Once you have a list, you can start recommending affiliate products and this where ALL marketers make their money.

Welcome to the affiliate marketing space! It's an exciting part of internet marketing to be apart of, mainly because of how simple and easy it really is.

First off you need to learn how to find and target a market. Want to promote a dating product, well then you need to find EXACTLY who will be interested in that kind of product and where they predominantly browse the web at.

That is just an example. There are plenty of other niches, products and services you can promote. Want to promote SEO services? Then consider internet marketing forums your gold mine. Want to promote household products through Amazon.com? Well I suggest you find out where women 24-49 chill at online. I got a hint... *Facebook*

Now that you've found your target market here's what you want to do. Promote them specials and deals on the products they are interested in. Email merchants and see if they can offer you coupons or discounts. Then market these discounts and coupons to your audience.

It's best if you can do this via email. So start a list immediately. Use forums to drive traffic your list and then start emailing them coupons and deals weekly. Here is WHY you'll be successful. You already pre-qualified them as a potential customer--because they wouldn't have signed up for your list if they weren't interested in discounts on the products they desperately want or need.

You see what we are doing here? Marketing to the wants and needs of our demographic which = sales... screw that, it = big sales!

And that my friend is how you become successful in this space. Understand your market, build a list and email that list weekly with exactly what they want.

No lie, you have all the content you need. Your experiences is the best content you can ever have. Just speak to the reader, and they will be able to connect with you. There are tons of new coaches to the game that you can help. Just grab the right theme, i suggest Socrates . Highly monetized. Much Success.

First...thank all of you so much.....this is great and I'm pumped.

I do have another question though....does anyone have a very simple way to choose an affiliate that you do not have experience in? For example....i took a whack at Adsense.....being seasoned in SEO I was able to find a niche that I could get to the top easily. It took a bit of time to construct my website...long hours. However, after putting up my site and getting visitors....my payout per click was nil. After digging and searching.....I found out that you need to choose key phrases that offer the best pay out....otherwise you will only make like 2 cents per click. That was a big waste of time for very little payout to me.

I know about the measuring tools in Click Bank.....but is CB not a great place to shop for affiliations? Are there better places? Should I look to partner directly with businesses and not so much with the CB's of the world?

    Thanks

    Slap

I am actually looking for new market places to work with myself. I found and signed up to commission junction on Thursday September 1st, and got my first sale early this morning.

Now what I absolutely MUST recommend Slappy is that you get yourself a note book and write down the market place your a part of (click bank, etc) write down which specific products you promote with that market place to help you keep track of everything. Each product you promote is an income stream so you want to make sure you are promoting the best high quality products you can.

Once you have that system set up create some s.m.a.r.t goals geared towards each specific product. Maybe weekly charts to track your progress, etc. Doing things like this ensures that you progress instead of regress with is what most beginners struggle with.
