Anyone else seeing a HUGE drop in clickbank sales?

I have used CPM style marketing in the past to market clickbank products with decent success. However, recently I have noticed that the sales just aren't there. Actually, after driving more than 500 targeted customers, I haven't seen a single conversion. Is this normal now, or is clickbank just slacking on reporting? I was really just wondering if anyone else is suddenly seeing $0.00 all the time from clickbank now, and if so, any other good digital products networks out there that you know of?

This is a little too general. Could you please be more specific?
    Which offer was it?

It was for a weight loss product. Normally converts at around 2%. However, the last few days, I'm not even seeing order form impressions from it. Not one single impression or sale. I'm just showing 543 hops and that's it. Something just seems off to me about it.

Something is definitely going on over there. I'm guessing that it's just a delay with Clickbank. I actually stopped my campaign two days ago. Now today, I'm showing 7 sales.

Yes. I'm seeing a HUGE drop in clickbank sales as well. This happens about mid last month when I start noticing sales are not converting. Everything seems normal in terms of traffic - in fact, my traffic increases. And what normally is a steady income becomes $0.00 all the time.

I was thinking along the lines of Clickbank hoplink/cookie is hi-jacked or something. BUT whenever I test the link it works though - I can see my affiliate is displayed at the bottom of the page.

so maybe the money isn't being accurately allocated to the right referrer.

            Something must be wrong.

I'm not experiencing this problem, in fact... one of my sites is going haywire with commissions on CB though I'm not a big user of CB as I am to MH but I all amazed at CB right now, maybe you should contact them and ask them to clarify if anything is wrong with your account

That's interesting, I'm noticing the same thing. It didn't make sense, but I see it's not just me. I'm not going to make any changes based on this thread....I'm going to wait another week.

Between weird changes, and CB not keeping their tracking up to date and time it's becoming trickier to keep the money flowing.

I guess it's wait and see.

I don't think the problem is with clickbank, a lot of things can go wrong which has nothing to do with clickbank. Have you questioned your articles, salespage, product you are promoting, traffic, ctr and cv?

Try to contact Clickbank and ask why. Wait for several days and magically, the sales back to normal.

If above method doesn't work, try to promote with different account. If you don't have any, register the new one.

I'm familiar with CB's interesting reporting. However, this is a huge new one to me. Beginning on the evening of 8/9 hops stopped accruing. 09/09 - today has reported ZERO hops although the "Data Last Updated" timestamp on the bottom left of the analytics screen says it was updated at 2011-09-10 10:35AM PST.

    FYI
-Normal hop rate ALWAYS above 300 for nearly a year. I wrote customer support and hope to hear back soon.

Have you tried switching your affiliate links to a new account for a short while to see if the hops still register? I've read stories of people having similar problems before and fixing the problem by creating a new Clickbank account and using the affiliate links from that new account.

That may be true for the OP.

However, for the last few days there has definitely been something big going on with clickbank's reporting for many, many people.

Yeah this is definitely an issue with CB simply reporting any analytics to the publishers. I wouldn't jump the gun and switch accounts atm (although thank you for the suggestion - it IS sometimes warranted)!.

Of course I will update the message boards once I hear back from CB which I expect to happen either Monday or Tuesday given their past CS track record.

Yes, there is ALWAYS an issue with CB reporting. But the primary complaints are based on i.) their usual approx 3 hour lag, and ii.) that their updates will often stop for upwards of a day at a time.

This issue which we are talking about is new. Why? Because the "Data Last Updated" is normal or 'correct' (about 3 hours behind the current timestamp), however, all 'data' (i.e. hops, transactions etc.) are showing ZERO. Which is just NOT possible no matter what rationale is suggested.

Waiting to hear back from CB...

The hops will show up in analytics once they're done with the upgrade. If you click on one of your links and check and make sure that all is good in the hood that hop will show up in analytics later... I appreciate you trying to make me feel better but that one was definitely my bad.

Sales are coming in, yes, but definitely not at the normal conversion rate! The lower sales combined with the total disrespect of CB to affiliates (which keep them in business) to not even post a message that explains the situation has me looking very seriously at their competition.

I've been doing this stuff for a bit and when the kiddies go back to school sales do tend to drop... usually at the beginning of the summer and the end of the summer.

Look at your overall stats. I usually look at monthly stats and three month averages. I still check daily stuff with some sort of OCD regularity but the 3 month when compared to my one month is usually what tells me if I'm doing something right or "not so right".

I also encourage you to check out other affiliate programs, for sure. Eggs... basket... you know...

Hi Bretski, Thanks for the encouragement but also wanted to say that I'm quite seasoned at this and am very familiar with the various trends both in general and for my particular niches and I also have close friends to compare notes with. Something is DEFINITELY up at CB. Every time they have a big glitch in their systems, sales drop off. They don't stop completely but they drop significantly. The thing that bugs me the most is how they don't fess up and just be totally honest with people.

I'm not sure RE: end result. However, I did receive an email response from CB that hops & orders would be fulfilled correctly even though our analytics show zero data. CB suggested that I check my transactions to see the actual number of orders fulfilled. However, now I'm getting a generic error message no matter what page I check "Sorry, we're performing some scheduled maintenance.

HopLinks and Orders are NOT affected by this maintenance and are functioning properly.
The entire ClickBank site is temporarily unavailable.

We're sorry for any inconvenience. Please check back soon."

Honestly, I've worked with CB because they are in-expensive to the advertiser thus publisher dollars are defended. But, truly, IF I had a choice, I'd prefer any other network over CB ONLY because they seem to be consistently dealing with bugs (not just because my gut/data analysis tells me that they are not capturing all orders what-so-ever).

I did experience a surprising drop in Clickbank sales over the past month.

I have no clue why, traffic seems the same, and my niche doesn't seem very seasonally affected.

Anyway, sales started coming back in less than a week ago, so I'll see how things go.

Honestly, I don't think this is anything to be concerned about. I just had an above average week followed by a pretty crummy week. It's not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last.

Cb-analytics has shown a downward trend in overall Clickbank sales for quite awhile now, but if you extend the graph out and look at things over the last 3 years, it looks pretty typical. There seems to be a big dip toward the end of the year and then things really skyrocket around the first of the new year. Overall, Clickbank sales have increased year after year.

There's a lot of factors that play into this and it depends on the niches you're in as well. But I would expect people to spend more on physical type products than they would on ebooks as it gets closer to Halloween and Christmas.

So, like everyone, I do seem to be seeing the same fluctuations/drops in sales while still having consistent traffic, but I personally don't think it's anything out of the ordinary.

And, yes, hops weren't showing for a few days even though the "last time updated" was normal. Again, it's pretty typical for there to be delays/issues with the tracking updates, but they always come back to normal. Mine are showing again now from the last few days.

As a follow up to this, if you are experiencing a big decline in Clickbank sales, you might want to check the products you're promoting and make sure the sales pages, order form, etc. are working properly.

I've noticed a few products lately that have been disabled due to violations of Clickbank's terms of service. All sites were supposed to come into compliance with the new terms of service by August 31st so it's possible that Clickbank is now going through the process of halting products that didn't make the necessary changes.

Make sure you check all the way through to the order form. On some sites I've seen, the sales page is still up and functioning properly. This means you're still getting hops and everything looks normal, but when you click to order the product a screen comes up that says the product has been disabled due to a violation of terms of service.

Just something else to check if you're worried about a dip in sales.

I am frustrated with the inconsistency - 3 great days followed by 5 mid to poor days. I'd rather just have a consistent $30 or so a day etc. Hopefully October through to January should be a lot higher for the IM niche.

I just checked my clickbank account today and something is definitely going on. I have 2 websites that have solid traffic and consistent sales for a couple of months now. Since the beginning of September sales have dropped and since Sep 11 I only made one sale. However order form impressions are still high.

My niche is not that volatile and there is definitely something going on here. I just sent them a message after finding this threat. I'll see what they say, but might switch to another account if this hasn't changed in a couple of days.

Never had this happen with CB, so I'm very concerned.

Putting aside Clickbanks problems with registering hops correctly, it would pay to know if overall online ordering has taken a dip. This might be a bad time of the year in general. Just thinking of possibilities.
