Strategy Suggestion

Hi newbie here, both to the board and internet marketing.

I'm starting a site, subscription, and was wondering about the best way market it.

My 1st option is SEO but my operation isn't cheap and I really don't want to wait 2-3 months before I start showing up on Google and Yahoo.

My 2nd option is an affiliate program. The problem is the expense. Most I have looked at want between 15-25% of the income from referred members, for life. Is this right?

Maybe the title shouldn't be strategy suggestion. More like Affiliate question

    I guess i should add that marketing isn't really my intention. More running the business side.

    Im asking here simply if you're teeth hurt don't ask a physicist, ask a dentist.
    If you want a kick ass marketing program, ask people that do it for a living.

    its either time or money. if you don't want to wait for seo results, then you could try pay per click marketing, which is relatively fast. you can search for other complementary businesses that have a mailing list and work out a deal to do a solo ad for your product.

    if you are planning to go the affiliate route, the commission you propose will be dependent on the price point of the front end product and upsells / back end products. it could be one time commission, life time commission, 15%, 40%, 75%. just make sure its attractive for the affiliates.

    test your offer and get some conversion data and this will help you get more affiliates fast.

    DigiResults is a newer affiliate program with no set up fees, they take $0.50 + 5% of the sale. Not sure if it works for reoccurring memberships, but something to check out.
