The Wonders or the Perils of the Google Hot Trends

In looking back at recent developments in internet marketing, we can see a surge of interest and popularity in Bum marketing some years back, especially among newbies and also those seeking a low cost platform to start to begin earning some money online using article marketing. At the same time, we could see a proliferation of auto generated scraped sites which have since become less popular, and with many older generation scrapped sites designated to the scrape yard and graveyards of zero traffic....and finally, fast forward to today, we see a great interest in autoblogging using wordpress and also a phenomenon of no-cost blogging of Google Hot Trends, especially short term hot trends that last perhaps a day or two, and at best a couple of weeks.

This brings me to the question of ," Why do internet marketers want to concentrate on the short term google hot trends that do not carry a long lifespan?". I've seen some strong activities promoting the use of free blogger blogs at blogspot.com - each blog for a single identified hot trend - to be monetized by google adsense, or amazon affiliates or clickbank products to exploit these short term trends. Never mind about the content - just copy and paste ( with link back to copyright owners, of course ), or re-write, and most times, just re-write off the original post without the need for further research due to the pressing need of time , as we will want to send off our post to our blogger blog as soon as possible because timing is of essence for a hot trend. In the end, we will have hundreds of thousands of google hot trend blogs, poorly written or re-written, almost similar to scraped sites of the past, as hundreds of newbie internet marketers surge to take up this blogging style which is gaining popularity every day.

In contrast, why should internet marketers deviate from the proven time-honored method of researching keywords, researching good content and writing good content, and getting backlinks and build up solid websites?

We know that more money can be made if we blog on long term trends that recur very often and trends that last a long time. Topics of interest in health, in trading, finance, marketing, technology, sports, entertainment -which affect our everyday life and lifestyle- matters that provide the buzz, the news, information and data - and which provide us fodder to create blogs and websites that last a lifetime and which generate long term income.

The question in my mind is, why is there this heavy promotion of blogging the short term google trends while there are also recurrent longer term trends found within the Top 100 Google Hot trends that are ready and ripe for blogging and which will last a longer time? Surely, there should be more promotion to the newbies to blog on medium and long term hot trends, rather than the instant hot trends that last a few hours or a couple of days?

I'm afraid that in the end, newbies who jump on the bandwagon and start blogging the short term google hottrends will finally become the disillushioned lot as their short term trends die down by the time without much traffic to their completed one-topic blog and with little adsense or affiliate income to show, and the blogger blogs they have created are left and abandoned and represent just another new generation of junk sites similar to the scrapped generated sites and blogs of the past.

Shouldn't we stay focused on the long term war ( good, steady income from long term trends ) rather than focused on winning the short term battle ( instant, one or two day wonders from adsense income generated from short term hot trends)?

What do you say? Thanks.

I guess hot trends is useful for those who need fast cash (like for startups), but I thought it was too much trouble to bother with and decided to build my own business instead.
