You Can Swin Across The Ocean Or Take A Flight

I just read that, "you can swim across the ocean or take a flight" and loved it.

Are you swimming along or are you sitting in your seat on the airplane looking down at the ocean, speeding along at 300 miles per hour and drinking a tasty beverage while watching a movie on the seatback in front of you?

I think too many are trying to swim across the ocean and drowning. Even the best swimmers can't make it that far. Sometimes coughing up the money for a flight just makes sense.

So true. I think the IM world is the only place people would ever consider starting a business with no money.

I remember slaving away back linking, article writing, building blogs, lenses etc... to rank for a keyword I was targeting. One day after very little progress I realised the keyword I was targeting had no PPC competition on Google. 5 Minutes and a quick text ad later and I was at the top of Google for my keyword receiving visitors and orders!

Hm...I would say that I am driving to the airport to catch a flight across the ocean

I'm just about to dip my toe into virtual assistance for the first time. Currently asking around to see what's what in terms of hourly rates and quality of service.

Don't outsource until you know exactly what you need done though. I've seen too many want to outsource everything, yet they can't even give the outsourcer detailed steps to follow because they don't know them themselves!

I think the analogy works both ways.

Some people think they can just board the flight, but in reality they need to swim to build up some muscle first.

Those selling boarding passes need to be very careful about what they're promising and who they're promising it to.

    All the best,
    Michael

Well said Michael... You have to learn how to walk before you can run. And even though all internet marketers want to score on their first venture... the reality is... it's a process. Even if you fail... you are further along the path of achieving success because of the knowledge you've gained. The trick is... use that new found knowledge and build on it to make a better project next time!

You can also get across the ocean with someone who's already done it and is showing you the best way to do it. I'm talking about finding someone who's already done the hard work of swimming across the ocean and is willing to teach you what he's learnt in the process and what pitfalls to avoid. This does not necessarily mean you can just take an easy free flight, but it does mean there's someone who can guide you along the way so you get across the ocean faster, while also learning along the way.

I'd rather take a boat across the ocean, is that an option?

I too would rather take a boat. Haha! But yeah I totally agree with this. People seem to make so many mistakes in IM that they just drown in all the mistakes, personally I would love to ride in that plane. One day, one day!

Yes, for many online it's about how cheap they can do something. It's seems almost a badge of honor to some how they can get auto-responders, websites, hosting, templates and more free.

I just realized I didn't spell swim right in the title...doh.

I think it can be taken a couple different ways.

A lot of newbies want to build fortunes online but do not want to pay a dime for anything to do it. I don't know of any offline business that was built with zero initial investment but online it seems that what people want. Doesn't make any sense. Then when they do start, they want to "learn it themselves" first. I don't know about you. But if I wanted to learn to speak Chinese, I'd hire someone to teach me.

I think the phrase means, you simply have to spend money to make money. Yet so many refuse to accept this and try to do it with zero budget. Then wonder why a year or two later they're still stuck not making a single penny.
