Amazon and traffic exchanges?

Has anyone here had any success with Amazon and traffic exchanges?

When ive been browsing a traffic exchange, i've often seen people put a link directly to Amazon. I was wondering why they did this because people who browse traffic exchanges aren't in a buying mode, they just want the points to get visitors to their site.

Obviously they must be doing this to take advantage of the 24hr cookie, if anyone buys anything within 24 hrs.
