Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is not Anti Virus ... just fyi. You need anti-virus along with that I am a computer tech who removes viruses day in and day out ... get avast and do boot scans once a month .. KEEP IT UPDATED Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is very good to use with avast .. oh by the way avast is free to home users use firefox, NOT INTERNET EXPLORER, anything but IE LOL ... with the McAfee SiteAdvisor Software Website Safety Ratings and Secure Search mcafee free site advisor plug in. STAY AWAY from sites you are warned to stay away from with site advisor also stay away from peer to peer file sharing, like limewire stay away from free porn sites and last tip ... DO NOT EVER believe a pop-up or site page warning that says you are infected and click on it to clean your system ... THOSE ARE THE VIRUSES, and some of the worst ones at that with that being said, your best bet is to get rid of the windows OS ... why not try Ubuntu instead ... very cool, runs super ... NO VIRUSES ... AND FREE ... and very easy to use and learn and yes, I do believe the conspiracy around anti virus companies creating viruses to create a demand for anti viruses along with Antivirus programs that also scare the user into purchasing the program by displaying fake virus scan results if you are a windows user ... follow these tips can you afford to lose all your data due to a virus? think about it hope this helps some of you |

I notice that when you first run a new anti-virus download that it will find lots of "rogues" that need to be removed from your system - and then some will require purchasing before it will remove them. The best ones are (IMO) Spybot ***** malwarebytes **** Norton 09 *** Spyhunter ** They won't bring your system to a standstill like some others. |

Sorry I didn't answer you sooner ... To schedule boot scan using Avast, follow the steps below:- * Right click on the Avast system tray icon * Click on “Start Avast Anti Virus” * Avast anti virus window will pop up and run a memory scan * Once memory scan finish, you can right click on the Avast anti virus window and select “Schedule Boot Time Scan” * “Schedule Boot Time Scan” window will popup, select “Scan all local disk” and check on “Advanced Options” * For normal infected file select “Move infected files to Chest” and select “No action” for system files and Press “Schedule” button. * Avast will prompt you for restart to perform the Boot time scan and click “Yes” to reboot and start the scan. * Done you have just scheduled a boot time scan from Avast anti virus take a look at Ubuntu Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops YouTube - A Helpful Introduction to Ubuntu see if you might like it Eva, good luck at avoiding problems down the road! Good Advice, MrsRay, I use Avira, but it doen't get everything. (free version). If you are in desperate need of assistance, Community Feedback helps for free. No ads even on the site. All volunteer. If you go there, make sure you are dealing with JudyC or KP It is a hobby for them, and they are very good at it. |

No antivirus companies do not pay people to make viruses, I think one did once, got caught, and totally got destroyed from the business. I used to have a bud in college who made viruses (doesn't anymore) I still don't really know why he did it, now days he just chuckles about it. |

An author writes a virus. Nobody tells him to do it, in most cases. He does it because this is what he does. A crime syndicate of some sort buys the virus, which they will use to deliver malware that will make them some money. Once enough people get the virus, the AV vendors start paying attention. Soon, they announce "we are testing code to remove this virus, which will be in the next update." This is like a big flashing neon sign that says "this virus works, and will continue to work for a little while." The author of that virus sees a massive upswing in demand for his virus, because it works. He makes a lot of money. The people who buy it work the hell out of it for the next couple days, because it will only work for a little while longer. They make a lot of money. They also infect millions with this now-proven virus. So the AV vendors jump up with a little trumpet flourish and say "we are here to save you!" They ride in like the cavalry on white horses, and wave their new update that shuts down this virus. They make a lot of money. Nobody had to conspire. It is the natural and normal course of the market for the system to work this way. It will always work this way. | |
