Hy there!

I hope i am in the right Forum part here to ask this question:

As everybody knows, google likes pictures.

Can somebody give me some hints, were i can get some pictures to use inside articles?
Or otherwise: For what i am exactly searching? How do they have to be marked, that i can use them also on my homepage? So free to use.

Sorry for these Newbie questions, but i dont want make something wrong, and get in trouble cause of that.

Best regards

Tobias

I use BigStockPhoto.com or take my own when I can. I actually prefer to take my own because its more fun, but sometimes the site or niche doesn't call for it or is not practical.

You're in luck! There is already a thread on this that can point you in the right direction. It was posted within the past few weeks, so all of the resources should still be up to date.

I think using your own pictures helps the visitor connect with what you are doing and it's a big help with selling.

So lets say i want to have pictures for the Body building:
Would you recomend than, that i would go to a gym, and ask somebody there if i can take pictures from him?
Would needs to be clarified with him, before i do that? I mean, i hva to tell him, that this will be in the internet, but than i would also something writen, that he signs to agree to it.

As a former pro modeling photographer and also stock image product creator... Yes to do it legally you would need to have your 'model' sign a model release document giving you permission to do with what you explain in that release. You can't just go using the images for commercial purposes without consent.

If you have a blog about body building, why not go to some body building competitions and take some pictures?

    Hi Tobias,

I use a site called "freedigitalphotos.net" Free Photos - Free Images - Royalty Free Photos - Free Stock Photos for most of my pic's. You can also do a Google search for free pic's and it will give you a list of them. When you pick one, make sure you read what their terms are and follow them and you should not have any problems when using them.

Hope this helps, good luck on your venture,

I used sxc.hu as it used to give copyright free images, I don't know what terms they have right now. If you are willing to pay you can use one of the indian sites with good images named imagebazaar.com, there probably you can get even exclusive images for your needs. Hope this helps...

I usually do a simple search on Google for "free public domain images". The results are images you can use without worry about copyright and related stuff.

Use them commercially or any other way you like.

    I hope this helps.

      Not always.

Be VERY careful using this method.

You still need to make sure you can use the image in the way you want.

      Seriously.

To say they can used "without worry" is as naive as it is scary. I know you mean well, but you need to rethink what you're doing, and certainly shouldn't be doling out this advice without adding a few hefty disclaimers.

Posting it again isn't going to make it any more true.

See my previous response in this thread.

Repeating bad advice doesn't somehow make it good advice.

      • Look, prospective bloggers. If you're looking for photos for your masthead or sidebar, invest a few dollars and *buy* stock photos. You want quality for something that's going to be permanent.

Interior pictures you can get more creative with. Got a bodybuilding blog? Get an *artist* to do you a series of sketches you can use. Sometimes the stock photo places will have sets of graphics or drawings you can use. Or take your own photos of gym equipment.

As far as Google is concerned, be very specific with the image name and you'll be fine. I just advised a client of mine that his gorgeous trout trophy photos were nowhere to be found in Google Images because he called them photo12345.jpg, etc. instead of monster_trout.

I dont know, if you just can use these? Is this Plugin special made for copyrightfree images? Are there any terms and conditions?

I think this is probably the best idea to use "own" images, but i think, this would cost a lot. Espacially on the beginning, i dont know, if i still can handle that (already burned a lot of money, and my wife is getting angry now). I will definettly keep that in mind for the future, but as of now, i think i would not be able to pay the amount, what a professional is asking.

But thanks all for the tips

          Best regards
