Hi Guys, Internet Marketing should be a really enjoyable pursuit for everyone that does it. Yet I know many people do not. (My past self included). Here are a few golden rules which have made a lot of difference for me in enjoying the Internet Marketing ride: Take (At Least) One Whole Day Off Per Week - If you can't take some time off to do some other things you love then you need to start changing the way you run your business. Work With Nice Music On - I love listening to music when I work and I find it actually increases my productivity. Previously I stopped listening and tried to be "Ultra-Focussed" but I didn't enjoy it and found no increase in my work. Keep A Tidy Workplace - I HATE clutter as it drags me down and puts me off work. Now I always tidy up before sleep and feel far more relaxed because of it. Leverage Technology, Money and Other People -Roboform, DLGuard, Buying Paid Traffic (instead of creating it all manually), outsourcing graphics design and script installation. Focus On Your Strengths -Do the stuff you're good at and it will be a lot less like work. If you hate technical work, like installing scripts, then hire someone to do it and spend your time on something you enjoy - Product Creation for example. Don't Try And Conquer The Internet Marketing World Right Away - Take it a step at a time, build up your skill base and build a solid foundation. Work on turning a profit and then scale and expand. Don't try or expect to make big money right away. Very few do and it's best to have a long-term perspective. Expect To Encounter Difficulties - They WILL be there. But if you expect and prepare for them then you will be better enabled to deal with them. They also make your victories sweeter too! Get Outside And Breath Some Fresh Air -Some days I would sit in the office all day working away. Bad idea and really unhealthy. I always try and go out for a 30 minute walk every day to brush away the cobwebs...and...remind myself there's a big world out there beyond the computer screen. I hope these tips can be helpful to you, particularly if you're a Newbie starting out. Looking forward to hearing your tips too! Best Wishes, Kenneth |

Kenneth, Great post man. As a workaholic, self-proclaimed and damn proud of it, I can attest to the trappings of this little 'cyber world.' It was only a couple of nights ago that I was privvy to a smart remark from my better half about 'not being able to go to bed without (my) computer". Taking the occassional day off however, really does allow for some new and 'clearer' pictures to come to my head because I'm not so 'FOCUSED' on 'tasks.' Be well. -Marcus |

One question for you guys? Being a social person myself and always cracking jokes at work. How do you deal with not being around people and by being a homebody? |

Yeah, keeping the outside world as a contact is very important for me. That's why I can't do this full time. I am glad that I have a regular, 8-5 job that I LOVE!
