Default Is it just me or have you noticed that...

...lots of Internet marketers are "selling" access to their affiliate programs? I've seen at least half a dozen marketers lately sell the idea of teaching you how to be a super affiliate (& I'm sure there are more that I'm not even aware of). They claim to give you all the tool, campaigns, ads, etc for success. Once you buy it, they tell you that the best product to promote is the one you're reading/viewing. They say, "You bought it didn't you?" There's a program out there that sells you dozens of the very same products they promote on Clickbank for $97 - the same ones you can get for free on CB (complete campaigns & all).

This has went on for a very long time.. Some of what the reasoning is that you make a better affiliate when you have purchased and used the product yourself.

Having first hand knowledge of the product you are promoting does help..

That may very well be true. But selling it for $77-$97 or more for the same thing anybody could get for free if they went to CB is low, IMHO. More & more CB products have great affiliate programs with full PPC campaigns, pre-written articles, sig files, solo ads, etc free to use.

A sales tactic for their own gain... nothing more.

Yes you should buy the product if your going to sell it, and affiliate materials will be provided free by a first class outfit.

But that smells like selling the "opportunity", as opposed to a solid product.

Back in the day, well I am sure it applies now too..you can go to the affliate pages of many products and get all the free affiliate training you need...copies of email letters you can personalize, traffic sources, and other tips.

I am sure they are still doing the "ready made affiliate websites" that are just cloned templates and they are basically making profits when they suggest a host, which is their affiliate link.
