Does anyone know anything about Amazon phantom clicks

I am having a problem with my Amazon affiliate account and so far Amazon has not been very helpful. It appears that my sites are getting something called phantom clicks through to Amazon. It seems this is something that happens to some but not all WordPress sites. It happens if I go into edit a post but it also happens when I have not touched the site. An example of this is that I was editing a post because the images were not appearing as they should. For one product I clicked through to Amazon once the next day when I checked the stats for the day I was editing it showed 24 clicks to that product and of course no sales. As Amazon will only say they are aware of the problem and working on it (for two months now) does anyone know anything about this and hopefully a solution?

It sounds to me like amazon is tracking the image view as a click, as opposed to someone clicking the link.

Since most amazon codes pull information in from an iframe load, that is possible, but at the same time, it should not be recording in that fashion.

I am betting a programmer at amazon is pushing the wrong information to the wrong column in the database.

It is possible that they are aware of it, and it is not an easy fix. As a programmer myself, I know that easy problems do not always allow form easy solutions.

Further, at a company of that size, it may take a week, month or six to get the management to sign off on one small change in the coding that may have unintended consequences.
