How Did This Happen???

As far as I was told Aweber ONLY works with double opt-in subscribers.

I just got pitched to a squeeze page. A free report was offered.

I opted in. The very first email was NOT a confirm. It was the free report.

I look down to the bottom of the email to see what service he's using...and it's Aweber.

How did he do it and how can I do it too?

go to the list settings area and then to the verified opt in page. from there you can change the opt in method to "off". i just recently learned how to do this and it is great.

Aweber has both single and double opt-in...as you know already know.

Once you turn on double opt in you can not go back to single..AFAIK.

I haven't been using Aweber for a long time so it may have changed, but I believe that when you got an AW account you could choose whether you want the account to accept single opt-ins. But if you said no, you were unable to change it later.

But as I said, it's been a while so I may be wrong completely...

You put the bonus, report or whatever in a folder on your site and make that folder URL your Thank You page. It is in the aweber webform setup. You can put your own URL as the Thank You page.

      Hope that helps!

I just realized that is not in the email, but it definitely works as well, especially for a bonus for opt in.

Your deliverabilty will suffer with single opt in. It's tough enough with double. Different servers are used when mail is sent depending on single or double.

I switched from AW to Infusion a while back, but they essentially do the same thing.

I use only double opt in for all of my marketing, which is a good bit. The thing I do is put every single opt in into a double opt in "campaign" for 30 days, so if they dont click the double opt in link on my first go-around, they get about 10 more emails asking for them to click and offering some subtle bonuses if they do. If, after that time they dont double opt in, I know for sure they are not interested so I stop wasting my time with them and delete them. This should be true of any of us - if we give one of our single opt ins 9-10 chances to double opt in and they don't, what do you think your chance is of actually selling something to them?

        Just a thought.
