Have They Proclaimed the WAR Against Affiliates!?!? Or What is that ...

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen !!!

Just wanted to share with you the experience I had today.

I was up to testing a new thing which should get all my articles and videos on Google's page number one for certain keywords.

As I was up to just testing I didn't bother myself creating a squeeze page or something where I could gather all my leads.

Instead I have picked up an affiliate link and submitted one article to EZ.

The title of the article was something like: "Top 10 Home Based Businesses For You".

In two days I have received a notice from EZ team that my article was not relevant to the websites content (but as I said already I have a placed an affiliate link in my source box where I promote one of Michael Jones products, so the content was definitely relevant, even more ... the product was really great and professionally looking one ... you know how Michael Jones does it ;-) )

And the second thing they said was: "We don't accept affiliate links in source box!!!"

But I have done redirection from my domain to affiliate link and even shortened the URL using bitt.ly and still they haven't accepted it.

So what was that?!

Have they proclaimed THE WAR against affiliates or what?!?!

Of course I am kidding but what's the point then submitting article to EZ?!

Is it for link juice!? - no ... cause instead I would submit my article to hundreds of directories using software, but not by doing that manually ... right?!

What are your thoughts on that one?!

I have also noticed then getting very picky on the articles they accept since Google slapped them.

The easiest thing to do is just put up a review of the product you are promoting on your own site and then link to your review in the resource box.

I know this one guys. I am just wondering whats bad about affiliate links and affliates in general, as a people who want to make some quick buck online, right?

What is it a crime to be an affiliate NOW!?

Why Google dont like affiliate links?!

I know we can talk about this all day long and nothing will change but my opinion is that this is just not right!!!

Simple fact is that they are very picky now.

As Kurt said the best thing to do is publish the content on your website first and then what I do if I don't get any success with Ezine articles is just use another article directory.

I know my articles are not the VERY best but they are good (if I do say so myself) and do not have time to go backwards and forwards with Ezine - so I understand how you feel.

I think they are quite desperate to recover lost ground since the Slap - which I don't think they understand - in terms of what Googles problem was.

Looking at some of their competitors who actually got boosted by the slap I tend to agree.

Shortened URLs may automatically raise a red flag and the possibility of changing the destination URL after submission might be a further concern. Anyone have more concrete information on using shortened urls in the box?

They have never accepted affiliate links in the resource box. At least not in the past 3 years I have known about them.

Unless I've missed a very recent change, EZA has only allowed affiliate links via redirecting a top level domain you own for a couple of years now.

And they don't 'hate' affiliates - they hate the tactics a lot of affiliates employ, which end up polluting the resource.

I'm not saying you did this, but if you look like a duck and sound like a duck, sometimes the hunters are going to shoot at you...

EZA has not allowed direct affiliate links for years - ever since people took advantage of it in the early 2000s. The rules are clearly posted in the TOS.

I think you are drawing conclusions without any basis. There's no war on affiliate links or anything else. EZA has the right to set limitation on how its site ca be used - the person submitting has the obligation to read/understand those limitations.

Hi Yevgeniy, EZA's Editorial Guidelines are only one page and really worth reading. They haven't allowed this since I've been online.

I thought they allowed top level domains. Maybe if you had just used the domain redirect without the url shortener they would have let it slide? I mean there's no real way to tell from a shortened url that you've used a top level domain, is there?

Editorial Guidelines For Submitting Quality Articles To EzineArticles.com
    EzineArticles.com Editorial Guidelines: (AFFILIATE PROGRAMS):

Affiliate links will be allowed if the link is a domain name you own which forward/redirects to the affiliate link from the top-level of the domain name. For example, it is permissible to forward to an affiliate link from:

    http://your-company-name.com/

Had two articles accepted last week with my affiliated link redirected using a domain name. I had to purchase this additional domain for 10 bucks a year. I can see this getting a little expensive if I want to promote multiple affiliate links. Been told Ezine is the best place to publish articles. Seeing more and more negative post towards Ezine, time to search for different Article Directory?

You can buy .info domain-names for this purpose for $1 each, Ron (from GoDaddy).

I use them to redirect to my affiliate links (from my own sites, that is - never from article directories: I want article directory traffic, if any, coming to my site, not going directly to someone else's sales page. I sell ClickBank products, myself, and one certainly can't make many sales of them that way).

It depends why you're using an article directory. If it's for webmasters and ezine pubishers to find your article and syndicate, then in my opinion EZA's unquestionably the best, because that's where content-searchers search for content. That is why it exists, after all.

There's little point in using any article directory for its own traffic and/or its own backlinks, though. One doesn't want potential customers who are finding an article by putting one of its keywords into a search engine to be reading an article directory copy: even with a 30% click-through rate, you'd still be losing the other 70% of that traffic. It's not exactly the "ideal" way to make sales.
