Creating a new product

Hey guys hope all is well with all of you.

I have a very quick question I am concerned about and was hoping one of you more experienced fellow warriors can help me out here...

Kobe Bryant has always been a man I admired for his work ethic and his basketball skill. Favorite player of all time.

And since I started doing IM I said hey, why not write an ebook on Kobe's life growing up in the NBA and the technique/skill/moves he uses to play basketball. The ebook is almost completed and website creation will start soon.

This is what I'm worrying about...this is a type of category I CAN enter correct? I mean, there are a lot of people who have written a book about Kobe and is now selling in stores. This is a type of product that can POTENTIALLY be accepted by clickbank right? It does not violate any of there before mentioned rules as a vendor...I mean I checked and really didnt see anything I'm violating. I have yet to see a product under a big name like this on CB (which there maybe is?) so I was just wondering if this type of product can be accepted on clickbank?

I'm just hoping I did not waste all my money creatingthis product, then it gets disapproved by clickbank because its not the "usual" type of product sold on clickbank. Please help!!!

    Biographies and memoirs aren't really Clickbank materials. There is no market on them.

    You're better off looking at something like Kindle or Smashwords with a killer marketing plan.

      awww what so clickbank wont approve this? I mean its not just a bio...its also going to teach how kobe uses his skill to play basketball..which can help the reader...so it can be viewed as a self help?

          I live in the UK myself, but I thought that was affiliates only that got the chop.
          You as a product owner shouldn't be classified as such.

          You'll have to check dig a little deeper and check that out.

          If you do get the green light there, and your not sure about converting eBooks to Kindle format; then I do know a fellow warrior who produced a 6 video series on marketing eBooks in the kindle format on Amazon.

      Yes, i don't think Clickbank is the right market place for this, better to try Amazon as mentioned.

    Hmmm...

    Really depends how much of the product is going to be based on the skills and techniques that he uses? Will there be live demonstrations or is it purely from watching Kobe footage?

    I mean... is there a training manual or anything that actually teaches people how to play, ect?

    You really have to sit down and think about whether it is a product or a book?

    Not only so you'll know what affiliate network to join, but whether that network will be right for you?

    I am fully aware there are a lot of so-called unauthorized biographies of celebrities out there... yet, I'd be very careful about writing one without the permission of the person.

    Even with the best intentions you may write something that they consider "slander" or "libel" - and you'd be in big trouble.

    Just another aspect that may be worth considering.

    When it comes to promoting an autobiographical book you really need either a platform, a new hook that no-one else has come up with before or the weight of the subject behind the material. It strikes me that you may have that hook in the form of teaching Kobe's moves and one of the best ways to do that would be through an ebook/video combination.

    You could, for example, link through to videos from your ebook (and Kindle is a good choice for this) in which you analyse those moves via voiceover, text annotation or whatever. I've seen it many times on Youtube for tennis players (e.g. Federer's serve) and it pulls in lots of views. This would give you free exposure for the book and potentially drive a lot of traffic.

    So long as you stick to that angle and don't start delving into controversial personal stuff (if there is any - I'm not too familiar with Kobe Bryant's private life!) then you should be fine. In any case, someone getting all fired up about an autobiography, provided it doesn't break any libel laws, can provide the best publicity of all.

    Dude, this is a HORRIBLE idea.

    Regardless of potential lawsuits, which if that wasn't enough to put you off - the idea of selling this is just awful.

    Start selling solid SOLUTIONS, tangible products that can do something or HELP people.

    I would suggest thinking about the angle you are coming from with this ebook. Do you have a customer avatar ? From reading some of your replies you are having a hard time explaining just what it is you are doing. Is it autobiography, tell all, techniques. If the marketers on a marketing forum is having issues with getting the gist then that should give you some pause. And I must say you sound too emotionally invested in this project.

    It sounds like a biography mixed with how to. Not a focused approach. If you have a copy of The 48 Laws of Power go back through and see how Mr.Greene uses historical character. Notice how he focuses on a certain aspect of their personality when discussing a particular law.

    If you could pull out a few characteristics of kobe and discuss them individually with some concrete examples by Kobe you may have something.Get a very clear picture of what you're writing about. And how is it meant to be read by.

    As an interesting side note, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Kobe and his dad on Father's day a few years back. My dad has amazing Angel's seats right in the front row, and that's where Kobe and Jelly Joe Jackson(I think that is his nickname) chose to sit. Anyway, only mentioning it because he was really friendly and cool, much more than I would've thought. His dad and my dad hit it off and they were laughing about one thing or another, and Kobe was mostly being berated by obnoxious people.

    He's not a bad man as some would have you believe. At least he didn't seem that way...
