Why did my opt-ins suddenly drop off?

Trying to figure it out. I had 23 opt ins the other day with the beginning of football season and than the day of the first game only 5 opt ins came through while one of my other sites got 45 opts in with just a nice email blast and around the same amount of hits.

Any ideas as to what the reason is I would love to know as we have not changed anything major just making the site validate better. Is it possible its not showing up in peoples browsers properly or what?

    I think it is displaying correctly in browsers. I just checked the 4 most popular ones.

    When you say to "validate better", did that change the experience for the user at all or was that all behind the scenes? If behind the scenes, have you confirmed the process is still working?
