What are some tips and tactics you guys use while looking for a new client..

I got my first client and it felt good, I have him under contract so I make 50$ monthly for maintanince fees.

My plan is to finish my portfolio and make business cards, network with people in my town and target small business..

I would like to make this thread a disscusion about getting clients and building your list, the hard points and the easy points.

    The best advice I have for you is confidence. Remember that your the expert in everyones eyes. Hold your head up high and speak with confidence.

    Here's a few tips when speaking to people...

    Don't get into all the numbers and hype of internet marketing and seo and backlinking and all that crap. Keep it real with your potential client and speak to them how they can understand you.

    Tell then this one statement...IT'S GOLD!

    This is the short version...

    "People are looking for your product/ and or services right NOW. Your not being found...and your competition is getting all YOUR business!"


    They can understand this... it creates numbing facts, enviousness, and scarcity all in one short line.

    This is speaking to them on their level. Chances are they know exactly who their competition is and are envious of them.

    They understand the fact that people are looking for their services or products.

    They will know they are not being found online... thats why your having this converstation in the first place with them.

    And their probably pissed that so and so gets all the business. You can help them change this.

    I like to ask questions to the potential clients and let them think... don't be a salesman... nobody likes to be sold... but they like to buy. Show them value. Have confidence.

    Here's what I did to attract few clients for my seo and site development services, these 2 tips have made me over $12,000 in client fees last 6 months...

    1. I created a diagramatic process map with arrows and pointers that would give them a complete overview of an internet business model in 2 minutes. People get impressed looking at this chart.

    2. I ask about their niche. Then quickly go to google keywords tool and find out the demand of their niche for top 100 keywords in their local market and give them this report for free before even quote them the pricing.

    They get impressed that I took personal efforts to figure out and research their niche and provide them a detailed report about their market.

    Plus once they look at the demand of their keywords locally they get pumped up with the amount of business they can attract via internet.
