Monetizing a competition...Any Advice?

Hi 'Warriors',

I've been a member here for some time and appreciate all the help and advice given to others, as it has helped me obtain a 'better handle' on structuring my business. I've yet to make any $$$ and have failed on previous projects. But the learning curve has been invaluable.

Anyway, I'm about to launch a competition and would like to ask if it's wise to put something on the back end to 'monetize' it. Being a competition I'm not sure if it would be a good idea though.

My raison d'être is to drive traffic and registrations(optins)for my web based 'tv' show. It is free to view and will be looking for a sponsor after a few 'episodes'.

Without boring you with too many details my question is as said, whether to put a product on the back end or not.

Any questions and advice would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance

You number one goal and objective at first should be to build trust and credibility. To give someone away for free in exchange for an opt-in - or, in your case, to watch an episode for free or what not. After you have given them valuable information, and only then, will the deem you reliable and buy from you.

I would suggest monetizing with adsense. You don't want to draw viewers away from your site so some small ads will help. Make sure that it opens in a new window not in the same window.

Yes, put the products so you can get new lead & convert into money. But not in hurry when they subscribe, you can show your products in there. Let the watch your episode and relax for the back end.

Thanks for your replies above. It is gratifying to know that there are good people who wish to help.

I had a 'lightbulb' moment yesterday though. I have a membership site I have yet to build. Got DAP and the domain name, and can outsource the building of it all, and with hopefully the traffic that my competition generates (I always try to remain positive!!!) I can put up my own banner ad for this site (I paid for whois privacy) and have a squeeze page and a video showing 'coming soon'.

As said, thanks for all your replies and Ill post my successes or otherwise...
