I was looking up desks today and I came across this video on youtube.

I noticed the urls in the description are shortened (any idea how to do that?)

Do these look like affiliate links in the description?

Are direct affiliate links on youtube descriptions allowed?

I'm not sure what you're talking about. There wasn't a single shortened url leading to an affiliate link. They all went to the domain and to the product page on the domain. Did you share the correct video?

When you look at the youtube video description, each link has part of the url followed by a ...

I first thought onlinesmartstore might be like an amazon or other online retailer with an affiliate program, but I now figured out they are direct links.

I'm assuming the person this is making these videos is the owner of this url onlinesmartstore.com

Now some of my questions are: His header (logo) includes images of a canon dslr, iphone, etc. Aren't these copyrighted images, is that even allowed?

And do you guys think his site is an acceptable amazon affiliate site. Just looks like it provides the same exact info you would find on amazon (with just an affiliate check out link), nothing else....

    Maybe I'm missing something here.

As the video creator is an Amazon affiliate, they are allowed to use images for promotional purposes, which include videos.

It's not ideal just to copy info directly from Amazon as google likes original content, but i've seen blogger blogs rank on page #1 that just have copied an entire review directly from Amazon, so its not impossible to rank well.
