INTERNET MARKETING

I'm looking for some web based project management software (best would be php, something I can install myself) that is web based but no idea what is the most popular and why.

What do you use and why do you like it?

Yes, there's basecamp. Currently the most popular.

It comes with subscription.

I use a solution called 5PM and I like it better than Basecamp.

It's what I use to assign tasks to my team. The interface is easy to pick up and none of my team has had a problem jumping right in and using the software. I think the package I have is $28/month.

  If you're managing projects, how are you managing clients? What about things like getting paid, client collaboration, time tracking etc?
  
  I recommend considering these other needs before going with a single-purpose project management system. Otherwise you may have to compensate later on by picking up additional systems, which are often not-so-well integrated, and can result in high monthly costs with little actual efficiency.
  
  WORKetc is a good place to start, as you can manage all projects, calendars, time tracking, as well as contacts/leads/invoicing in one web app. You're capable of managing everything your business is doing in one place, as well as the entire client lifecycle. It's google apps integrated, too. Worth a look.

We used to use Basecamp until we discovered TeamLab.

Free Online Service for Your Business - TeamLab

It's almost identical (in fact it's so similar you can import your Basecamp projects into it), with the following differences:

- TeamLab is free
- You can either host it yourself,or have them host it for you. They even have a free AMI if you want host it on an Amazon EC2 Cloud Server

For the price it's certainly worth a try!
