Internet Marketing Strategy Help For Pregnant Newbie?

Hey

I'm a newbie, but I've been a "lurker" for a while.

I know there is a TON of useful information on here, but I'm a bit time limited at the moment so I thought I would start a thread and hopefully some generous Warriors will help me out.

My partner and I run a successful offline business that we are now moving online. We're making use of our separate strengths; he is very good on the phone and happy doing that, while I'm more of a writer.

We have a landing page (in my signature) and my task is basically to generate as much traffic to that site as possible. I know there are so many ways of doing this, and to be honest it's a bit overwhelming - I could spend all day just reading the Warrior forums, but I really need to get a makreting strategy in place and FAST - I'm due to have our first baby in less than 6 weeks

So, dear Warriors, can you help me out?

I'm aware that's a very general thing to ask, so here are a few specific things I'd really appreciate any advice on:
  • Which keyword research tool do you use / would you recommend?
  • Which IM tactics would you recommend to get the quickest results (since I'll probably be doing much less when the baby arrives)?
  • If you were starting out in IM and had 6 weeks to really work hard to get results, what would you do?
  • Are there any things that are just not worth me trying at this time (because they need a longer-term effort to see results, etc)?
I really do appreciate any comments - I know you guys are busy, but I also know you're generous with your time and knowledge!

Katie

      Jane -

You might to try reading the forum rules - especially the one about signatures. Salient points are....

      (6) Anyone Caught Promoting The Same Site/Offer Will Be Deleted. Program owners are telling their members to come here and make posts to promote their offer in their sig files. This has caused tons of useless messages to be posted and it is clogging up the forum. Anyone caught doing this will have to be removed. This is not an ad forum - it is a discussion forum.

Edit: Due to certain people trying to find a loophole I needed to add yet another edit. Please do not try to get around these rules by getting your own domain name and simply redirecting it to an affiliate program. You Will Be Removed From Here When Caught.

If you want to promote an affiliate program do it on your own domain. Your own web site. Not a "pre-made" web site. Your own web site, a real one. Then put THAT web site in your sig file.

A simple way to stay within this rule is this: Promote Your Own Real Web Site And Do Not Listen To Anyone Who Tells You To Come Here Just To Promote A Site They Created For You.
      Word to the wise.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

For a newb, a great keyword tool to start with is Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool or try the google keyword tool. Both are free and many experienced marketers swear by them. You don't need to spend money on this right now.

I'd start out with article or bum marketing. Look through this forum and then google it. There's tons of info on this technique and it's free and it works.

Once you get a feel for some of the techniques that are available to generate traffic, remember one word...outsource, outsource & outsource. I'd go as far as to recommend you spend a little money immediately and have 50-100 SEO, keyword optimized articles written and submitted to top article directories right now. You would begin to see traffic fairly quickly.

One last tip. Be VERY careful of information overload. Find one proven technique to build traffic and stick with it.

      Good Luck,

Kay, it is her site I checked coolwhois - Katie, you have a one page site. Keywords only work if you have pages geared up as landing pages (natural search) there are so many sites offering the same system. Build a bigger site.

Jim - thank you. I had considered Squidoo but heard conflicting information - some people saying it wasn't worthwhile unless you created something like 50 different lenses? Thanks for the tactic, and the SocialMarker recommendation, I hadn't come across that before

CTABUK - yep, it is my site, I assume I'm not breaking any rules? I only really put it as my signature as I suspected linking to a site within my post would be against the rules! Do you have any suggestion for other pages to add to the site? I only wanted it to act as a "squeeze page" (is that the right term?), I do have another site which has more pages.

    Thanks for your time..

Katie, Kay was talking to someone else in the thread not you. The post is now gone which is the cause of the confusion.

Just take a look around the forum, you'll find a lot of great information here on getting traffic etc to your site. Or try article marketing for it. (Use the search function and you will find tons of info on it.)

    Hi there Katie!

Congrats on the baby! Let's see to answer your questions...

Which keyword research tool do you use / would you recommend?
--I mainly use the Google Keyword Tool, but also SEO book keyword tool

Which IM tactics would you recommend to get the quickest results (since I'll probably be doing much less when the baby arrives)?
--The fastest way to get traffic and see results is pay per click.

If you were starting out in IM and had 6 weeks to really work hard to get results, what would you do?
--Since you write, I would launch an article marketing campaign, fix up the landing page and add sales copy, launch pay per click campaign, set up a blog around your offer (more ways for people to find you).

    Hope that helps a little.
