$50 Hands-free bucks a month, doing something that I enjoy one time...

Hey Warriors,

I love makeup.

I'm an addict, even, I love buying it even when I have no need for it.

"I'm a collector."

So I decided to put my makeup collection and love of makeup to some good use.

And with little effort I've now earned a minimum of $50 a month for the past several months by doing next-to-nothing.

So here's exactly how I did it...

I started a make-up blog targeting some specific key words that I know makeup-addicts search for (see how easy stuff is when you have a genuine interest?).

I signed up as an affiliate on Commission Junction for one of the Makeup Companies that I own way too many products on.

I did genuine reviews, tutorials, and blog articles. Totally on my own time.

When I felt like playing with my makeup or taking some pictures of it, I could now do it to generate revenue and not just pleasure.

I shared my affiliate links in my YouTube reviews and on my blog.

And since the very first month I've consistently made $50 a month or more. We're pushing 6 months or so now and admittedly, I barely added any content since my initial surge.

If I did more posts, I'd earn more.

I also have an opt-in form and have generated about 80 subbies without doing anything extra.

That's it. It's that easy.

There are tons of ways for me to turn this $50 a month into more, too.

Now doesn't something like this seem a lot easier that trying to teach people how to make money online?

So, what do you love outside of IM that you can make an affiliate review site for?

Talk soon,
Miss C-note

If you are interested in tutorials or videos, doing makeup tutorials and video reviews of products could be a great addition to what you are doing.

You can post these videos to youtube and post them on your blog. You can also use them to get traffic to your blog from youtube. You could even become a youtube partner and make money from ads on your videos themselves. There is a lot of extra money to be made by introducing video into your project!

Thank you for mentioning that! I honestly don't know how people live with themselves making money from people who want to learn how to make money, and then themselves selling make money online product.

"I'll teach you how to make a million dollars from a forum post that you can repeat as many times as you like... just send me 1 million dollars"

Yes I can vouch for this - my first niche was something that I enjoy and to be honest almost EVERY niche that I have had success in afterward was something that I developed an interest in so this really works!

    All the best,

I'm quite proud off you. You could by now be earning $1,000 monthly and before long $10,000 for in the long term you would have gotten loads of backlinks and tons of loyal niche followers.

You can even leverage it further and give talks etc. You can become a highly paid consultant.

My love is free market economics. Yet, I've barely touched it as any income from it is a long term thing. No blackhat tactics here. Basically, the more informative your articles and quantity, the higher your backlinks, syndication and gradually a following and respect.

Then the money starts rolling in.

Very well done - you are doing something you enjoy and are helping people. Simple and effective

I don't know if you've heard of Lauren Luke, but she started out doing this kind of thing. She would make videos showing people how to get the look of celebrities with lipstick, eye shadow etc. She did it in her bedroom and demonstrated step by step. She posted these videos on Youtube and started to amass a huge following. She is now quite famous over here in England(she appears on TV and in magazines) and is doing very well for herself indeed

That is great when your passion coincides with what you are doing. One thing I know that is hard to tell is how a lipstick or gloss will actually look when you put it on. I'd love to see videos on that as the color always looks different than I think.

This is a great post to read! A lot of the conventional wisdom here is to find some out-of-the-way niche, even if you know little (or care) little about it, and just start churning out content. It's good to see that you can succeed doing it the fun way!

Great stuff! I think they key take-away point here is that you can make something out of doing something you actually like and are interested in. A lot of people go into niches which might seem profitable, but they have no interest in whatsoever. Maintaining something you're not interested in is hard work, and will get frustrating... unless you of course can outsource everything, which is not the case for most people.

I think this is why so many people love SEO. Sure it is a bit of upfront work, but once it's done and you're ranking high, its (fairly) passive income

    Hi Laura,

Kudos for finding an incredible niche and enjoying it. It reminded me of a few years ago, a friend of mine had breast implants andtold me that all the bras on the market for big breasts are klunky and too strained. She said she wanted a bra that looked pretty because she didn't need thesupport big bras had.

I sourced her a few samples and built a small blog for her and left her to it. 3 years later she's earning a lot of money off it and the cross-sell opportunities have really helped her. She had a vested interest and built instant rapport with her visitors.

Now here's my reason for posting. She contacted a supplier and struck a deal to place her brand on the underwear and now she has an amazing business that will only ever grow and I mean she has earned millions off it in the three years, she's projected to earn double on double for the next three years.

My question to you OP is why have you not private labeled cosmetics yourself?

    GREAT answer!
Laura's copywriting tips are easily implementable. When you're 11 and watch QVC BUT not buy anything, you know you've found your true passion (Hint: QVC knows how to sell to you)

MissLaura -- if IM were the only subject to make money with online, I'd still be without a cent. I've always stayed away from marketing. Sure, I sell some PLR for people to use sometimes, but the subject has always been something other than MMO. My first site - gem hunting. I have loved that site from the first day it launched. I could make more on it, too - but part of the money that brings is from offline, so all is good.

I can't imagine getting into the MMO arena. It wouldn't be interesting, it wouldn't be fun. If I'm not going to be interested in what I do and have fun doing it...well, might as well have a brick and mortar job at that point, since that is what we profess to have ditched out online for. Go figure.

BTW - I understand makeup addiction - used to do facials at Merle Norman's. Make my own facial formula now.

The way I got my husband into IM is by basically using this formula but with his number one hobby. We have set up his site where he does reviews and tutorials, tons of youtube videos, and brings in bits of money from Amazon and Youtube. His passion shows and his viewers see and appreciate it.

The great thing about making money with your passion is it also comes naturally! Though, his passion being video games, he doesn't really make profit, but he does get to spent the money he makes on new games to try and review, which he loves! It just lead to the new rule: If you want a new game, get online and earn some money to buy it.

If you don't mind my asking, what software do you use to record your reviews? Or, do you just set up the video camera and let it roll?
