RE:Would you say this is the normal response rate?

Hey guys,

I have tried to estimate and I think I have a mean response rate of around 2% for all the emails I send out to my list.

It has never risen above that %.

Do you guys feel this is a good enough response rate? By response rate I mean that the subscriber opened the email.. and possibly clicked through to the links that I posted inside the email.

Anyway, it would be great to get the response rate to around 10%.

Any one doing this consistently?

Depends on where your list came from and how old the list is, but generally no, I would not say that's a good response rate, at all.

I think even Frank Kern said his massive list, which probably had a lot of older subscribers who had been on this list for longer than a year, would often only get an open rate of 5%.

Yeah thats what I am thinking.. 2% just does not cut it..

I personally try not to use hypey subject lines to get people to open up the emails.. which is possibly why the response rate sucks..

But then again I want to provide them quality info without hype..

Oh well.. By the way the list came from people who signed up to my list through my website in return for a free SEO report.

What kind of response rate are you (guys) getting?

Sounds like you need to find the sweet spot with the subject lines.

I used to make the mistake of sending the same format, changing only a few words figuring clients would know it's me by the subject alone and open it quickly and instinctively, however open rates gradually decreased since I was more or less throwing the same thing infront of their eyes in every campaign. People tired easily. It needs to be kept fresh.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply.

I will try to use different kinds of subject lines now.. just to test things out..
