I have heard a lot of success stories in here and everyone has a different technique. What counts most global or local? Does the domain extension (.co.uk, .com, .us) have a big bearing and a factor when it comes to these results? What is the number of global monthly searches/local monthly searches I should be looking at?

    In my experience the domain extension does play a part in Google rankings. If you were doing a search on google.co.uk you will find a mix of results between .co.uk and .com results. Same goes for other countries with google throwing in some country specific domains in the serps.

    You can make monye global and local. Global is tougher these days IMO so I tend to focus local. Be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond.

    If you ae focusing on English then you can target countries such as Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand apart from the USA. Those others may be smaller markets but they do get a signicant amount of traffic, enough to make some money in.

    Global-Local, Broad-Exact, I'm not sure in your case for me local is anywhere in the U.S., some talk about wanting a few thousand exact match local searches for a niche sites, the counter intuitive part is the larget search terms may be locked up by big google page one sites you have no hopes of competing with. Smaller search volume keywords have a smaller chance of having been targeted by big players.

  • .com and .org extension domains are indexed better in Google, but to tel the truth I have seen the .co.uk domains in the first places in Google before that .com domains.
    Global searches mean the number of searches from all over the world, while local means a particular country - you can choose it depended on tout targeted market, for example if your targeted traffic should be from US than you must choose US to understand how many people are searching for that keyword.

    when looking at keywords remember to always use the exact search not the broad!

    some keywords which start with a 12,000 broad seach go to like 100 when the exact is ticked.

    this makes a massive difference

      Already know this but thanks anyway. What is a good figure to look for in global and local searches? 1000+ searches?
