Am thinking of offering 1-1 coaching.

When offering 1 on 1 coaching, how do you structure your refund policy?

What is stopping Every candidate of yours saying they want a refund ?

what actions can in my coaching program to reduce the amount of refunds?

-how would i structure the legal refund 'statement'? to reduce the amount of refunds?

How would you answer this "I took your advice, but it didn't work, so i want a refund" ?

Why do you think customers will ask for refund? I think you are focusing on a problem that doesnt yet exist.

2 best and most important things you can do to reduce refunds:
    - Quality product (happy customers dont ask for refunds)
    - Perceived value of product is greater than its price

Other than that I would say you need aggressive guarantee. Offer your clients 100% no questions asked refunds and if you make them think they got more than they paid for your services they will never want a refund.

If you over deliver you should not have much of a problem with refunds. I have never asked for a refund when I feel like I am getting more than i pay for.

    Just don't offer a refund.

You spend your time 1 on 1 with them and then they ask for a refund how will you
    get your time back?

In my WarriorDojo.com site I have a no refund policy.(Sorry no vacancies at this time)

    From my site:
Secondly, there are no refunds available. Why? Because I can't get my time back therefore, you can't get your money back. I will be happy to work with you to make you happy ... but if you're looking for a guarantee for a refund, then this isn't for you. Please don't sign up!

    Have a Great Day!

I agree with the sentiments above - you can't put a guarantee on coaching, and you can't guarantee that a student will listen and follow your instructions

Ok, Sorry to hear that. Let's go over what is not working and see if we can fix it...

Usually problems arise from communication issues, they might have been asking for something else, but not phrasing it correctly. Find out their issues and fix it

I never offer refunds and I'm clear with the person up front...

However, no one has ever asked for one later...

There are certain situations where I would make an exception, but when it's personal one on one coaching there is no refund because I can't get that hour of my life back...

But if you overdeliver there is no need to worry... Even on products I do offer refunds on the rates are super low...

No refunds are possible because they can not give back the words they heard. However if you're a caring coach you will allow a small re-call or extra chat if needed - especially if they pay a lot. I also have success asking what they want before I accept a payment. That way none of the refunders will get through and you will be working with B and A class clients.

To avoid a refund, start with a short interview. Give first.

I provide clients with a risk-free guarantee on the FIRST
      session ONLY.

I get clients to pay up-front for a full mentoring package,
      e.g. 8 sessions.

I reverse the risk for them by saying that if by the end of
the first session it's not what they expected - then they
can have a full refund of all monies paid for the mentoring
      package they've purchased.

HOWEVER, if they decide to continue with the mentoring
from that point forward - there are no refunds because
I can't get back all that time - and they can't give back
all of the expertise and experience I've shared with them.

In any case, if you deliver value in your mentoring sessions
and build a strong relationship with people in that time, it's
unlikely they'll ask for a refund later on.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

First of all, I have to agree with everyone above that
your coaching has to of the highest quality. When you
over-deliver you get happy clients. And, happy clients
    don't request refunds.

BUT, even before you take on a clients you MUST have
a way of evaluating applicants to see if they are a good
fit with your particular type of coaching and your coaching
    style.

Cant add much more than been said. I am a coach and noone has ever asked for a refund. If you have absolute certainty in your skills then you wont fear this issue.

If someone asked for a refund after the initial session I would happily give them it. Your skills as a coach are never the issue ( if your are well trained and know what you are doing) you might find a client who is not 100% committed to the process but I always check out their level of comittment and work with them on getting to total commitment...... and that is a huge part of my training and techniques. Tony Robbins does a new and quite good online training package if you fee you need more certainty in your coaching ability...... Or you can book a few sessions with me and I will teach you how to overcome this issue. carolfinlaysoncoaching@gmail.com Tony is more expensive than me.
