It's time for a CSS-enlightened warrior to come up with a WSO about how to turn any WP into a Sales-page!

With every man and his dog these days creating (and selling) their own WP templates with Artisteer (affiliate link in sig), it's easy to create your own sales templates.

For example, this one - www.benz1.com/sales_letter_theme_screenshot.jpg literally took me 5 mins to create. You're welcome to download it from www.benz1.com/WPsalesletter.zip. As with any other WP template just upload it to your wp-content/themes folder and activate in Appearance > themes. You can change font/size/colors, etc, in the style sheet.

Wordpress, and any blog for that matter, has a huge problem with Google. They expect a blog to be updated regularly, or they will dump it. Yes, you can get ranked high very quickly, but unless you update every week, you will get slapped big time after a while. I have seen a well known site convert to blog, and go from number 5 to number 85, after they had not updated for several months.

Yes. Do we make things more complicated than they need to be? Is there a way just to "cut out" the sidebars, comments, add your own custom headers and footers? Am I missing something?

Hey guys,

There are so many options here as far as wordpress sales letter themes, but I have a problem I can't figure out. Basically I want to turn just two of my blog pages into sales letters, and have the rest of the blog be a regular blog. so for ex:

Landing page ---> Thank you page ---> to regular blog.

The problem I'm finding with these sales letter themes is that they turn every post and page into it's own sales page, how would I go about just making two of my pages sale pages, and still have the regular blog?

Also, is there a plugin that allows you to use different fonts, and sizing when your writing posts or pages?

I just found out about this site tonight which can keep your original blog theme but add all sorts of sales letters and squeeze pages to your blog. They have a plugin version or a whole theme version. So you don't even need to change the theme of the blog if you use the plugin.

Good for people who want to use Thesis or some other theme for most of their blog and have the ability to create sales letters and squeeze pages on individual blog posts or pages.

So are you saying Google finds something in the source code that is related to wordpress (maybe some meta data, etc....) and then gives that site a few thumbs up?

WP just makes getting a site up and running easy, along with being able to modify the permalink, creates the environment to be search engine friendly...but the mere fact one is using the WordPress software should NOT matter at all to a search engine.
Not sure what it is Google finds but I do know it does make a difference. I have had several clients who are heavy into doing PPC and their quality scores on their landing pages were terrible...until we attached a WordPress blog on it...even without any additional content on the site and only an about me, contact and privacy policy, their quality score was all good...go figure! You know it's interesting that you say that. As we speak I'm putting the finishing touches on a guide that shows you how to take any existing HTML Minisite Template, and convert it to work with Wordpress.

There are so many free and cheap minisite templates out there I thought it would be awesome if people knew how to just grab any one of them and make it work on Wordpress.

I can't really say too much here about it without sounding self interested, but when it's done it's actually going to be completely free.

So, it's not quite ready for public consumption, but if anyone would like to be an early guinea pig of the process and tell me if it falls down at any point, you can PM me and I'll send you a copy as soon as I'm done.

I usually make all of my sales pages with wordpress.

The problem is, the CSS is different a lot of times and if you're copying and pasting stuff sometimes the formatting gets really janky and it takes a lot of effort to sort it out.

Anyway since I can't sleep tonight I'll do a fast explanation of how I set them up.

1. Register keyword rich domains and set up wordpress
2. Set the sales page as the homepage
3. Turn off any indications of posts (in the sidebar, or a posts page)
4. Set up 1 blogroll link with the main keyword I'm trying to target for sales page, linking to the sales page
4. Set up an exit pop offering something of value related to the product to get people into the autoresponder
5. Set up the biggest possible ping list
5. Set up a bookmarking plugin (I use one for onlywire) to automatically bookmark every post
6. Run through my favorite autoblog plugins to generate 5-10 unique posts every day and schedule it out for at least 3 months (pulling from youtube, yahoo answers and amazon - NOT individual normal peoples blogs)

The net effect is that the pings and the bookmarking get thousands of keyword rich pages indexed, each with a blogroll link using the anchor text of my main keyword leading back to the sales page.

If the user goes to the homepage they see the sales offer. If they exit from the blog post they get the exit pop.

Sales page ranks high for the given keyword. User never sees unrelated content unless they come in through a search or do a site: query.

List gets big. People get cycled back to the sales page. Stuff gets sold.

Caveat: I don't do this on domains I'm nervous about getting de-indexed. If I have the .com I'll do this on .org/net/info, etc. with the blogroll link leading to the .com salespage.

On the SEO side of things, one plug-in I swear by is Greg's High Performance SEO plug-in.

If your site is content rich, as most long-form sales letters are, you can expect to start receiving search engine traffic in two days.

If you're a split tester, there are two tools you should have at your disposal:

1. Free SEO Analysis Search Engine Optimization Tool - SEO Workers This site will show you exactly how search engine spiders see your site and give you free quality scores.

2. WP Sales Letter (DM me for links) With this guide, you'll be able to use Wordpress to build pro-quality sales letter sites in 15 minutes & create clone sites in 5 minutes to speed up your split-testing efforts.

Default Re: Anyone Create Sales Letters With WordPress?

A lot of good information in here and I wont pretend to be an expert.
I created a simple WordPress page to poll people about a digital product I'm creating. Google slapped, they stated I was violating their exaggerated get-rich-quick scheme policy. This in spite of the fact that I never mantioned anything about sales, prices, effort (or lack thereof), or outcome. Got it lifted, apparently by adding a disclaimer, stating that none of the things I hadn't mentioned should be taken seriously... go figure.
Anyway, this might be taken as an indicator that WordPress is not a Google protection.
I do believe though that having your site hosted by a pay for service web-host is a good start. (although, again, not in my case).
I believe Google doesn't use meta tags in its algorithms any more but a squeeze page / sales letter has the option for adding some meta keywords and content that the search engines like.
Perhaps one of the guru's here might like to correct me or expand on the topic?
