Default Anyone Create Sales Letters With WordPress?

Hi Guys,

I recently read a couple of posts from a well-known successful PPC Marketer who said that WordPress is the way to go to avoid Google Slaps into the future.

I wonder if anyone has, or knows of any good information about how to create sales letters in WordPress?

I currently use XSitePro 2 but can really see its limitations and want to make the switch.

All help will be really appreciated!

Best Wishes,
Kenneth

I was JUST thinking about this the other day...if using Wordpress as the main, sales page would help with the Google Slap issues.

Anyone know if this is the case?

I think it does. Because WordPress is easy to SEO it makes getting a great quality score easy.

It's creating the sales letter with WordPress which seems difficult with it being a Blogging Platform.

Thanks Steve. That's great information.

The one thing I notice about the template they have there is it seems slightly off-center in its alignment. Hopefully that can be sorted.

For $295 it seems like a good deal.

My sales page and entire site, for that matter, is done in wordpress. I have no idea if it helps me with Google or not. But it was easy to setup, so I'm a Wordpress fan.

yep I use WP for everything - sales letters, membership sites, blogs, static sites you name it. It's versatile and easy to use. If you check the WSO section a young warrior was giving away his WP sales letter theme that he created.

All the best

Leanne, does your WSO teach you how to create sites like this? I am very interested in implementing this.

WP offers a lot of versatility. The Semiologic WP is turbo-charged, but also costs a bit of cash, if that is an issue for you...you can do WP for zero investment and still get many of its benefits.

WP sites and their 'kind' seem to be preferred by search engines (esp. Google) so try it and see. I am putting WP sites against my static HTML sites...and WP is whipping a** every time.

If you ask me, Wordpress is really the catch all. For the amount of effort to learn to use Wordpress effectively vs. learning an html editing program like dreamweaver or frontpage, I would say Wordpress is the way to go.

Not only is Wordpress SEO friendly and very customizable but once you set it up a couple of times, it becomes very simple in the future. To answer the question at hand, Wordpress can definitely be used as a salespage with the proper modifications. Learning those modifications and techniques is really not so hard and there are a lot of great courses out there that will teach you quickly and effectively. You just gotta DO it.

Great post, I have just created my first sales page yesterday with no problem. But I was having a hard time setting up a thankyou page in wp . So, then I just created it on another domain, which is a static html page.

How do you create these pages - thankyou and download pages in wp, so that they are not visible? I hope this isn't too stupid to ask .

Thanks, Ursa

Look for a WP plugin for managing / hiding categories. You simply add pages and then use the plugin to hide them by not putting them on any menu. Give 'em a goofy name that someone isn't likely to type in and you're good to go. Just go into your page manager and grab the link, then use that in whatever you need to tell so people get directed there. Eg., your autoresponder or PayPal return field.

HTH!

David, thank you so much for your help. I should know by now there is a plugin for everything in wp .

I have already found the right plugin too.

Thanks again.

I can't remember the theme name, but it really doesn't matter at all. All you need to do is:

1) create a page template with a section separate div for the header (which includes menu if you like) and another div for the content. Then a footer div at bottom. The template calls up header.php and footer.php (you can see this by looking at the default template).

2) Modify the CSS to suit your needs. Colors, font sizes, etc. This is pretty easy to do.

So you can honestly use ANY theme to do this. The theme I used was a total bare bones theme.

Just hire someone to do it. There is a free theme called "Flexibility" that I've heard is very flexible

I use WordPress for everything too. I think it's become less of an application here now and more of an addiction I bought the sales page theme mentioned above from the lad who was running the WSO because I couldn't be bothered to make one (see - the community CAN profit from idleness ). I did a whole video series on this. Specifically how to use WordPress as a sales page.

I sold it as a WSO a while back. I don't want to be seen as promoting in here, so, if you are interested, PM me, and I'll send you the link.

Hi Richelo. I'd be dead keen to check out your videos. How much mate? I'm wanting to utilise my WordPress blog to create a sales page and a thank-you page as per Clickbank's requirement in order to sell my ebook. I'm a real newbie so are the videos real simplistic in content? Cheers.

If you know a little css you can make a sales letter with Wordpress. I either create my own or use a very minimal looking free theme and then customize it. You can check out one of my sales letters created in Wordpress in my sig (Wordpress User Guide link).

You can make Wordpress look like any type of static site if you know some css. I find it very easy to customize Wordpress themes and any one can do it if you apply yourself a little by reading a good css book.

My name is Ken Katz and I am a web designer and photographer.

I don't understand why people think WP gets preferred in Google?

So are you saying Google finds something in the source code that is related to wordpress (maybe some meta data, etc....) and then gives that site a few thumbs up?

WP just makes getting a site up and running easy, along with being able to modify the permalink, creates the environment to be search engine friendly...but the mere fact one is using the WordPress software should NOT matter at all to a search engine.

I strongly encourage all Warriors to support other Warriors. Some of the links and services offered above are excellent and should be fully explored.

Here is a link to some additional sales page themes...

Two More Sales Page Free WordPress Themes Released at IMWB :: Cory Miller | Entrepreneurship, Marketing and WordPress

The new themes include (information taken from above page):

* Three sales page templates – so you can create tons of sales pages easily in WordPress
* Customizable graphical header – the download includes the Photoshop files to change and upload to your site
* Widget ready sidebars – one theme has a right sidebar and the other a left sidebar
* Search engine optimized — each theme is tweaked for the best result.

I hope this helps.

I also use Wordpress as a CMS for many of my sites.

I use the "blog" posts for regular article updates, "page" posts for static pages.

Sometimes for ultimate flexibility, I will create my own sales page, OTO etc using Dreamweaver or Coda and upload them to the same directory as my Wordpress, being very careful to use unique file names. I then link to that page as usual.

eg http://www.mydomain.com/sales-page.html

Just because you're using wordpress, it doesn't mean you can't have custom-designed pages that were created outside of wordpress side by side in the same directory.

The theme that was on offer in WSO some time ago is Elegantio Squeeze Pages Made Easy : Elegantio V1 - I use it and it's awesome. It's currently free to use but for $5 you help feed a uni student and can then use your own footer. The designer is currently close to releasing version 2, no idea how that will be priced. However, if you purchase V1 now, you get free upgrades for life.

If you chip in $5 you'll also get a pdf with his suggested plugins - one of them is the one to keep selected pages off your navigation menu. I have my sales page, then my opt in confirmation and thank you pages set up, and the latter two don't show up on my page navigation. HTML and I don't get on well, so I just love how easy it is to do that with this theme.

I'm not an affiliate, and that's not an affiliate link, I'm just a happy client.

its easy for any developer or wordpress hacker to make wordpress sales pages

I personally believe that there is no such thing as a google slap - so I don't think that a wordpress sales page will be any better than a normal html/css sales page.

That said Wordpress is brilliant as a blogging or website platform

Obviously, you have not been "slapped" by Google, but it certainly exists. I do know that Google likes Wordpress in the SE's.

Just because you're using wordpress, it doesn't mean you can't have custom-designed pages that were created outside of wordpress side by side in the same directory.

The trick is to make them look professional, and that takes design skills.

Anyone know if Leanne King's Wordpress book is on sale with a coupon anywhere here? I haven't seen anything, but I'm sure I saw someone mention it?

Thanks

Something else. The Elegantia designer will even build a mini-site as part of the deal, if you add $50. Awesome.

Kenneth,

Check out FlexSqueeze.

Flexibility Theme for WordPress

I LOVE Ryan's design sensibility and have been using his theme Flexibility for quite some time very happily. FlexSqueeze is like a whole new level of bad-ass on top.

Best,

Brian

Oh man, just watched the video for FlexSqueeze. This is exactly what I was wanting out of a theme. An easy way to add a single squeeze page to a Wordpress blog and still have an easy way to add articles. Time to purchase this puppy!

Thanks for the great resources in this thread. I was just in the process of building my first sales page with wordpress but I am stuck with how to add a script or find a plugin which will just show the current date.

Does anyone know of such a plugin or how I can do that?

Thanks.

I use WordPress for everything, but had never tried to make a real sales page out of it until tonight. I found a few pretty good free themes for making sales pages, and I think my final result with it came out looking pretty good. You'd never even know it wasn't a static HTML page!

If anyone wants to see it to use as an example of what can be done with WordPress, let me know and I'll send you the link.

what is the difference between wp easy sales letter and the the wso ppc theme ?

I am now convinced the wordpress route is the way to go, I never knew about a google slap especially if you're not a good copywriter am sure it is best to go the wp route unless you have few hundreds to spend on hiring a copywriter.

cheers,

boris

its what i do. For the special pages which i use as PPC landers or sales letters i usually modify the themes so that the PAGES dont show "blog typical" side bars like "recent posts", "categories" and similar.

I also usually set up static pages for "contact us", "privacy policy" and so forth. Works pretty well. That way, you can have a blog (even a autoblog which automatically gets content)...and sub-pages which look like sales pages and PPC landing pages.

WP Easy Sales Letter has an options page under the theme menu to select the sales page style you want and enter all your sales page info (e.g. sales links, images, etc.).

The WP PPC theme is a nice looking one-column sales page theme that you use like any other theme.

I was thinking this too.

Wordpress might be idiot-proof and have lots of great plug-ins but how does the mere fact that you are using that particular software translate into an SEO benefit?

Even a basic html page, written by hand in Notepad, can be made SEO-friendly, so what's the advantage with Wordpress? That's NOT a rhetorical question; I'm actually very curious to know if there is some hidden advantage in the software itself. I don't know what it is and, if I'm honest, I think that people are actually confusing 'easy-to-use' with 'good-for-SEO' (but please correct me if that isn't the case).

Tommy.
