Question about resale rights

Okay, I am almost finished with one of my reports. (Hooray!)

I would like to generate income from this other than simply selling the report, but I don't want to go the affiliate route and pay a percentage per sale at this time.

I am thinking about selling the report for one price and selling the report with resale rights for a higher price.

Is this okay to do?

I don't see why not...hmmm that one is kind of a hard question to answer for me being new to this whole thing...

I think that if you sell this product, and then sell the resale rights, I don't see why that would be a big deal...

I could be wrong, I don't really know...I'm just telling you what I think...

    Does that help?

That's fine to do. You could even setup an affiliate network selling your "resell rights" too. I mean, I don't see why not. Affiliates opens your audience far wider and as a result you will get more sales and significantly improve your bottom line, even though you have to pay for commission.

    Imagine a one-man promoter vs group-promoter.

One thing you should add though when reselling "resell rights" is that, they should never be offered for free. Add this into your fine print. Otherwise, the person who buys the resell rights from you could offer your report for free, to "fish" people into entering their email in order to get the report. You see those...FREE report...enter your email and we'll send you via email. It's one great way to increase your opt-in list. People could buy your "resell rights" just for this purpose--expanding their list.

      Perfectly valid.

My guess, however, is that the market for both products will be different. (Just guessing.)

It depends in what niche the product is being created for.

If it's a niche like IM - the customers are the same potential resellers.

If it's another niche - then yes, people who are interested in the very product would less likely be able to sell the product to someone.

        Rgds,

        Robert
