How can you manipulate Adwords?

Ok guys. I am guessing I am at my latest learning curve.

I see the thread about 250$ in Adwords free. I know how to look to check how many times a particular word/phrase is being researched per month, and I guess one could develop a niche is something is be searched enough.

How does money come into play? In other words, what do AdWords do? What happens if I buy them? For that matter, how do I buy them?

    Let me see if I can phrase it this way.

    I know that I can go to the Adword tool and look up words/terms to see how many times they were researched last month, and for an average of the last 12 months.

    I know that I can also go and see how many results exist for the same term/word.

    However, I see/hear of terms like "buy adwords," and I am not familiar with the concept. Why buy them? How much do they cost? What does buying them get you?

      Jeremy, start reading the PPC forum on this site.

      You are asking too broad of questions. There is a lot to Adwords.

    The ads you see on Google are all Adwords. Search for something general on Google, like dog food or golf swing and you'll see Adwords ads on the right and sometimes right above the search results. You can go to http://www.adwords.com and read what they have there.
