Should I submit my site...

to the search engines:confused: Have WP blog and submitted site map to Google. Should I also submit my site to Yahoo and MSN etc? Will I only rank in these search engines under KW's if I formally submit the site URL:confused:

    It is not necessary. If your site is new, then you can test if your site is indexed.

    Type your website url (or the url of blog post) in Google or Bing search box, if you see it in search results then your site is already indexed and there is no need to submit.

    If you have a wordpress blog and you have a decent ping list there really is no need to submit anything to anyone. I know that I did this way back when but it is pretty much a waste of time in my experience... time that could be better spent writing content, building backlinks etc...

    Also, there is a plugin that will automatically create your sitemap for SE's to find and use which is updated every time you add content. You add content, your blog automatically recreates the sitemap and pings to let everyone know that you have new content.

      actually everytime you update or post a article, it gets pinged by wordpress,
      this can be a bad thing pinging to much with out you know, theres actually a
      a wordpress pluggin to stop unessary pinging by wordpress, but i cant thinkof the name of the pluggin right now

        I think you're talking about ping optimizer- just type that in the plugin search box and it'll come up

        You can change the settings so it only pings X number of times every X minutes (for example, at most it might ping once every hour)
