Do you give your workers bonuses?

I was talking to a friend earlier today while I was paying my workers and he was looking over my shoulder and was asking about how much I pay them.

I explained that depending on the type of work they make $2/hr up to $25/hr plus bonuses. He seemed shocked by the idea of giving my online workers bonuses!

Granted they aren't normally large bonuses.... I always round up to the nearest dollar, when they get things done way ahead of schedule I may tag some extra money on...

The big thing that confused him is that I had one VA managing my Fiverr account and all of my Fiverr gigs... the guy was a new VA when he started and asked for $2 per hour. That week alone I had made $500 from Fiverr gigs (after subtracting paypal fees and the $1 per gig Fiverr keeps). For the amount of work that VA did that week he should have gotten about $30 but because he had been doing such a great job managing everything I sent him $90.

Why so much? Well, he came up with a way to cut how long it takes to complete my Fiverr gigs in half. He works hard and always gets things done on time. I see no reason he shouldn't profit from making my business better!

I love giving bonuses when my workers do great or think of something that helps my business out.

I've been talking to other friends and they just don't understand why I would pay someone more than I have to. I just explain... I love having hard working and loyal workers! Why not make them happy so they stay hard working and loyal? Why not reward them for a job well done?

Such an enlightening story. "He" loves a cheerful giver, if you know what that means.

Yes, good practice if you get a good job.

ALWAYS pay fast and if you feel the work was worth more - pay it!

I have always found when I need a favour like a quick project doing my workers pay me back tenfold!

Yes, it sure is a way to really thanked and inform them that we appreciate their work and would motivate them to work even better for us. It's not that we would waste our time for those bonuses, since they are there to provide us what we want from them, like providing us services.
In addition, giving bonuses will enable them to feel how we value them as workers and would like to share something for them.

    Amanda,
It sounds like a great way to hold on to good workers. Though extra money is always appreciated...it also shows your workers that you noticed they did a good job. A lot of employers only notice when there's a problem and they're upset.

Don't let other people talk you out of it just because they don't understand the concept.

Our son was our only "employee" and I actually consider him part of the business. He is in college and he worked hard in his spare time to promote our biz. I'd give him a % of sales everytime I'd put the money from my paypal account into my bank account.

What kind of fiverr gigs are you doing, you don't have to go into specifics, but I'm just curious the categories you're in. Sounds like you're having some good success with it.

I sell ebooks with linkbacks to my site, I also do some linkbuilding and social bookmarking. I do a lot of different things. That was a big week with Fiverr.... normally I make about $600 a month and have 2 VAs handling it all for me.

Since a big part of my Fiverr plan is to get people back to my site I just pay them to do everything. Making profit is just an added bonus.
