How do you test an offer even before you create it?

Hey all,

I'm looking to create a product in a specific niche as part of our back-end. Last time I created a product I got burned because I didn't test to see if there was a desire for the product. I'm looking to avoid the same mistake.

Ideally what I'd like to do is test the offer, landing page etc. even before I create the product. Then use the results of those tests to determine what to create. Any ideas on how to do this?

The best idea I can come up with is to drive traffic to a sales page split test but instead of having an order button I would have a "pre-register" or "sign-up to get a discount during launch" or something like that. Then I could use the sign-up rate to determine the effectiveness.

What do you think? Any other ideas?

Thanks

Brandon

Don't know the details, but what about testing it with someone else's product? A ClickBank product, for instance?

Nice...I like it. The challenge is that there isn't a CB product like the one we are creating. We have done some survey's with our list as a way of conducting initial research.

You could set up a fake order page that just takes the persons contact info and not CC and then on the second page tell them whatever you want...if it's legal to do so??? This would be better than pre-registering

    Hey Diablo,

I was thinking of something like that but I'm concerned about the ethical standards. You are telling them "click here to order" but then on the next page you are telling them there is no product. Seems a little grey hat....

This might sound basic, but it will help. You can try to set up 10 page report of the niche and use ppc to see the results. Give it away for free.. Then few days later do a email follow up on what their response was or what they need help on. Then you start selling your niche product to that list..

That's probably how i'd do it, give something away for free that is close to the product you are creating, then once you have a list of say 300 people, you should survey them and ask questions such as how much they are willing to pay for the full version of the product, if they are interested in full fledged product, what other problems are they experiencing that you have not covered etc. The list will also give you a platform to do a launch. Good luck.

I like absolutelee's suggestion, split testing, particularly with another product.

You can't improve on something if you can't measure it.

Do you have a list on online friends that you do testing for you ?

OK...So I am on the right track then...

I'm already building a list and a survey is part of the sign-up process. In fact about 75% of the people that sign up fill out the survey. I guess I should just trust what they say and get building.

How would you split test the sales page? Adwords? I don't have a big enough list yet to split the traffic for testing.

        Thanks

          Hi,

I also recommend you to make a questionnaire and do survey.

          1. you first take the market survey, what is the need of the people of that specific area.
          2. than make a product to overcome there demand,

          3. Then make a sample test of this product within your organization or outside with some selected people from the desired market.

          4. Note what they say. make necessary changes in your product and then launch it
with giving them extra benefits of discounts, buy one - get one free.

In fact first time you never generate profit. you need to make more advertisement over your desired product.

For this purpose you make your website and publish it all over the internet...

I see a excellent website that offered UNLIMITED Web Hosting services with UNLIMITED Web Space and UNLIMITED Bandwidth + 20% OFF Rates. and further more FREE Services
          i.e,
          Hostgator [dot] com

Then make heavy advertisement throughout the internet by different USA Free Classified Websites including Craigslist, Ebay etc. etc.

Hope you generate the best results soon.

          Best Regards,
          Zaheera

    hmmmm...

Create a list in your niche.

Create a sales page and see what the response is.

You can do the fake order button thing as well. Get their email then send to a 404 page.
