Has Anyone Ever Been Banned from Squidoo?

Hey Warriors!

I've been using Squidoo lately to create link wheels, backlinks, etc.. I've been making tons every day, with loads of unique content, images etc.. I was just wondering because I have numerous accounts and literally hundreds of lenses now, I've been embedding links into the content like crazy. It's pretty obvious that all I'm exploiting the crap outta them.

Has anyone had any problems, gotten their account(s) deleted or anything? I would appreciate a headsup!

Regards,
Kendra

    Anyone with experience with Squidoo?

I know HubPages, Wordpress and other web 2.0 platforms bans and deletes accounts that look spammy, but I haven't had a problem with Squidoo "yet".

Yes, Squidoo like any other service DOES ban if they find you breaking the rules. You can have a couple of your lenses banned or the entire account, depends. Being careful is better than being sorry!

My advice would be to put the same effort into building content for your own site. Yes, it'll take some time before it gains authority, but in the end, it's going to be YOUR site where nobody bans you whatsoever.

You are in trouble if you don’t have good content in your lenses because Squidoo changed its rules. See if you can update your lenses.

Squidoo is not letting you update your lenses if they have duplicate content, which can be your own content, but that was already promoted online. So, you have to create lenses with original content, or use a few paragraphs of your old articles when you create your lenses.

You won’t be banned from Squidoo if you won’t create lenses about topics that are forbidden by them. Red their rules and find out what to do. Follow their rules, make the necessary changes, and you will be OK.

You may have your lenses locked if they contain too much duplicate content.

Squidoo wasn’t this way before Google’s changes, but now their system basically demands original content.

Apparently they also look at the number of links contained within the lens - Don't quote me, but I think that if you have more than 7 links within your content (not counting all the adsense or any links that they put there) then they start getting pretty suspicious.

You're on the right track - it's actually 9. Squidoo won't allow more than 9 outbound links to any single domain on one lens. There is no limit to the number of total outbound links per lens so you can have more than 9 - it's just that you can't have more than 9 to domain 1, more than 9 to domain 2, etc. (I did have to chuckle that your note says "don't quote me" and then I hit the QUOTE button to tie your comment to my response. )

There are domains that are white listed and don't fall under this criteria - Amazon, Blogger, Blogspot, and Photobucket are a few examples, so you can put as many Amazon affiliate links in a lens as you think appropriate or insert as many of your images on Photobucket as you want.

Squidoo does use a spam filter at the time of lens publication to identify phrases, links, and content that might not pass their TOS. That can prevent publication but that doesn't seem to have been an issue for your lenses.

However, Squidoo has some very dedicated lensmasters who visit new lenses. If they think they look like spam, they can report your lenses for manual review which may result in them being deleted or your account being closed.

I haven't used Squidoo as aggressively as you have but I know they do have very specific TOS. I've had a few lens I've had to make several revisions on before getting approval because I'd unintentionally raise a flag. I'd recommend diversifying your efforts a bit. Slow down on Squidoo & put some of that enthusiasm & energy into other Web 2.0 options or your blog or social networking feeds. Multiple streams of traffic
