The Facebook revelation that is changing my life

About a year ago I had an aha monent.
It just clicked that I was doing most things wrong or at least the hard way.
I was building sites adding unique content, building back links etc. Many of my sites would start to make some money after 6 months or so. 5 10 even a few hundred per month.
The problem is they just stall. There is only so much content I can write about electric heating pads or red vinyl siding (those of you creating mini sites get what im talking about)
Even my large projects would grow but most wouldnt start to get any significant traffic for around a year. And then it would take years to build them into big money earners.
This is when it all began to change. I was visiting Facebook as I do multiple times per day just like every one else in the world. And I realized that all the traffic I could ever want, targeted traffic was right at my fingertips. All you need to do is create a fan page treat it as you would a blog and promote it like a blog. The only difference is that all promotion is done on facebook. You dont need to go looking for targeted traffic. Its all right there up for grabs.
I created my first fan page and began posting it on other on topic pages and groups.
Its like guest blogging without needing any permission.
Before long the page was getting new fans on a regular basis.
I began getting targeted visitors almost immediately. Never have I seen targeted traffic coming in so fast without spending a dime on advertising. All I had to do was decide where to send the traffic.
Over the last yr I have been using Facebook to generate traffic to my sites.
One site is getting 60,000 visits per month from Facebook and this grows by about 10 % per month. Social media marketing is now taking up the majority of my time because of the results.

I know this was a little of a ramble but I think you can tell im excited

      Hi Lozzer
Right now I am sending then to a community site that I built.
So Im only making about 500-600 a months off the traffic from adsense.
However, my membership base is growing and I do weekly product sale that is generating another 1200 or so a month.
On topic ebooks kill it, but the ones I have found are bad quality and once word spreads sales stop.
So I am working on creating my own ebook.
From what I have seen I should be able to sell 100-150 ebooks a month at 20 bucks a piece.

Great job man! That is really cool that you are getting the traffic from inside Facebook, which obviously makes so much more sense, but just something that I didn't really think about. That has been one of my major drawbacks to doing fan pages because I don't know how to get real, targeted 'likes'.

I have thought about trying to get into Facebook but am focusing on other things at the moment but you have definitely inspired me to try social media soon! Thanks a lot for sharing your story!

One thing that I need to focus more on is Facebook, it's the #2 website in the world anyway...

I have a fanpage, but I just don't promote it nearly enough, great post.

Hey revupcommerce, forgive my ignorance...I'm just not that familiar with FB fan pages, but do you basically have links to your other site(s) on the fan page?

I get the promo part, but I'm just trying to figure out how much info is needed and/or allowed on the fan page itself. Once the FB traffic comes to your other site are they purchasing directly or opting into a list?

angiedc I mix in links to my sites when I post relevant content.
this is how I get the traffic to come over to my site.
I also try to find things I can give away like free ebooks
Of course they have to come to my site to get them.

Keep in mind that for most niches if you do it correctly you can run ppc ad campaigns in facebook and get new fan for .10 or less

The best thing to do is to create one and experiment.

I'm not sure what your niche is, but I've personally noticed a good affiliate product can bring in way more cash than Adsense. Have you considered having eBooks as your advertisements? I know you said you have your weekly product sale, but I still think income potential is far higher with a targeted affiliate product. Sometimes Adsense will show bad ads. [ex. I've had hostgator hosting for years and that is the ad that shows up for adsense for me the most - something I obviously don't need.]

    That's an awesome tip.

Facebook fan pages are definitely the place to get a bunch of users into and show them the light (content outside of facebook).

It's a lot easier to get folks from a facebook ad onto a facebook fan page (they are more comfortable).

A lot of visits you got there. Unfortunately the idea of Facebook never really stuck to me.

P.S. Didn't some guys post a message that they will destroy Facebook on November 5th or something like that?

    Hi

Did the owners of the other topic pages and groups not object to you using their sites to promote yours?

    Thanks

When you have your wall open you can't avoid it. Best they can do is erase it and block him after the fact. If he is posting right and gets some replies befoere that they likely will just leave it unless it was pure spam which it doesn't sound like he does.

    Great motivation!

I have recently started affiliate marketing and I am looking to drive traffic to my blog. As i am a custom facebook fan page designer, I have created one for my website too, but I am not sure how to drive traffic to it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Hi, one way I get traffic to my blog is networking it through a facebook app called Networked Blogs.. This posts direct to Facebook each time I post. You can also syndicate Networked Blogs to your facebook fan page and as many Twitter accounts you choose.

Yes! you are spot on. You can link to your site all over facebook and thousands of people will see it. It also shows up in search results once it has been indexed. I have had great results with that.

Quality post - we have an offline business where Facebook helped build a community but did nothing to help grow the business. As an affiliate I do nothing with Facebook right now but have been thinking about getting back on it later. This has been a nice kick up the ass to motivate me.

Facebook is a total mystery to me. My wife has a very active page, but I am not that social and so never got the hang of it. When I see posts like the OP, I regret this. But I have no idea how to change that.

Facebook has encouraged me to become a better marketer. Like an earlier post stated:

There are tons of people on Facebook, and is a very good traffic source.

If you want to be effective, just remember to

    Post as your fanpage:

    1. Post quality, engaging content on your wall,
    2. Participate on other fanpages, (preferably in your niche) by commenting in conversations with relevant and helpful information.
    - Sharing useful information on other peoples page.

Those are just a few ways, as there many more, however keep in mind

Facebook is all about forming relationships. Build a relationship with your fans, and they are more likely to buy from you.
