I'm New, have a large list, but what do I do!!

Hello People,

My name is Steve, just graduated college, can't get a job lol. When I looked into Internet Marketing about four years ago the first lesson I ever learned was that the money was in the list.

Over the past few years I have developed quite a portfolio, I have displayed some of my portfolio below:

Business ( 4,230 )
Internet and Businesses Online ( 7,125 )
Real Estate ( 3,210)
Computers and Technology ( 3,445)
Gaming ( 1,345 )
Relationships ( 10,256)

My problem is, I don't know how to utilize these lists, I don't just want to affiliate with CB products because much of them I have seen to be crap, and I don't want to ruin my lists.

Once in a while I tested the conversion rates on the lists and they are about 5-10%, usually sending them to a survey or poll to segregate them more.

So, I have compiled some questions for you guys:

1) Where do I go to get Joint Ventures?
2) Where do I find an amazing auto responder writer?
3) Do JV's write auto responders for their affiliates?
4) What type of product can I affiliate with to produce passive income?

Mainly my lists were built from PPC ads, ad swaps, free social networks, and tons of opt in pages.

Thanks for your time,

S.W

    Hi Steve,

How would you like to do an AD Swap?

I also have some great products that you could promote to if you wanted to make some extra cash.

    What do you think?

    Craig

    just some thoughts:

    - you haven't marketed to these lists for 4 years? you might run into problems as soon as you try, as they haven't been conditioned to see promotions from you. And if you have rarely emailed them at all (you didn't really talk about this), you might get hammered with spam complaints as well.

    - You really don't need an amazing email writer.. you just need to write - period. As long as what you have to say/promote is relavant to your list, you should be good. The overly sensitive subscribers are most likely not buyers anyways. Once you get going, you will realize that this isn't rocket science by any means.

    - You should be able to find some respectable products to promote without too much effort if you stick with established players in your niche. If they do not have openly advertised affiliate programs, contact them directly and mention you already have an established list of subscribers.

Here's what came to my mind when I read your post: this guy is afraid to pull the trigger. Don't be - you really can learn as you go, everything does not need to be perfect.

I know exactly what you mean, I suffer from this badly and put it down to perfectionism. But really, yes I am afraid of failure. I am working on this and think the OP should too.

If you need any graphical help, or you want to change the design of any potential affiliate products let me know.

      Good luck

  • At least you are thinking before doing.

Pick just one of your lists. Ask yourself... what do these people want or need the most? Are they already receiving this information?

For example: I'm kind of a camera junky. I have sites I like to visit. But I am also short on time. If there were a list I could subscribe to that sent me the newest product info on Olympus, Canon, and Nikon as they came out... I'd probably stay on that list for a very long time.

And I wouldn't mind a well written review on cameras that contained affiliate links as long as the article was worth reading.

What would kill my desire to stay on the list is if all I got was an ad pitch for an affiliate.

So figure out what your list members want - you do polls right; perhaps that is how you can find out more.

In any case it's all about delivering value to your users. And people recognize the value. And if you can combine it with legitmate real time or money saving offers then you will score.

4 years is a long time i would start with email subject

      "thank you"

Some jibber jabber in here about who you are and make them get nostalgic..

      End sigining off..

      Next emails..

      Wow thanks for that

      More jibber jabber....

And continue emailing stuff you know your list will like for a few days, maybe even links to videos on youtube, antyhing that doesnt cost them anything to do...

Wait until your open rates start rising consitently, then you know you've got rapport... Bam hit them with offers they cant refuse.

You will have difficulty getting people to remember when and how they got on your list - but just send an email gently reminding them when and how they did, like timestamp put in there and ask them what they would like to see from you in the way of products or services, then go from there.

I agree with Jason. I would start writing to your lists...NOT promoting to them for now. Just writing to let them know that you are still around and all that. Those who are no longer interested will unsubscribe and you'll probably have some "dead email addresses" on the list, too. You can get those all cleaned up and then later on, slowly begin promoting things. But let them 'get to know you again' first.

Ho Steve, welcome to the forum. I agree with those above who say to keep in touch with your lists, I do this by sending a newsletter or report in which I include my latest blog. Its amazing how many love this approach. You have to keep the wheels oiled so why not start with blogging and finding a niche you are comfortable with.

    God bless

Wow , you have been paying for an autoresponder list of around 20 thousand for 4 years and have tested nothing but polls .

Start a relationship with them but don't be disappointed when you find that over the years the list will be at about 50% of the original number .

Still a open rate of 1000 people should get you some mid level jv offers

You can try to make a quality info product and try promoting them with your list. Well you have good numbers, you don't need a great conversion to make a good living. My 2 cents, I'm new here.

As many have suggested, you need to freshen up this list. How did you make this list. Did they sign up to receive information from you? Are you in touch with them? If you are not in touch with them for a long time, then the list is useless. But I assume that you have some periodic email contact with them. I would suggest you start a weekly newsletter and offer them a free product and ask them to sign up again to make you your list fresh and responsive. Lots of people will drop out.
