Is this the right way to start in the IM industry?

Hey Warriors!

Just thought I put this out and hope it will benefit anybody else who is starting out in the IM industry.

I'm about to begin creating my very first and serious website around a niche market which I am passionately involve in. Although this is not my first attempt, the previous 2 was something I did out of being desperate to get rich quick. Hence, I gave up few months later knowing that no profit could be generated

So, let me know what you guys think about my plan of action. Any feedback would be much appreciated as this would hopefully grow to be "THE BUSINESS" I always dream off running... (and of course, becoming my own BOSS

Firstly, the website would start off as an "affiliate" site/blog:

- promoting related products through advertising (banner ads)(maybe even selling ad space once the blog gains popularity)
- review blog posting (offer killer bonuses)
- email promotions (list building)
- and another income stream would be Adsense.

I will of course be updating the blog with free information several times a month.

My goal here would be to build my asset, which is the email list.

Once I get a huge list down, and good rapport with some of the product owners which I am an affiliate of, then I guess it would be a good time to start creating my own product for the niche market. Of course, all this will be thought about later on as I don't want to get carried away when I haven't even started yet

The reason why I'm going for an affiliate site first, and not start my own product is because I wish to learn how to drive traffic properly, build relationship for future JVs, and to build a list.

I know it sounds simple, because that's how I wish to see it.

As for cost:

Domain - $7.49
Hosting - $62.55/year
Autoresponder - $1/first month

Startup total = $71.04 (anything missing?)

From then on, I guess it would be $19/month for the autoresponder and marketing cost (not sure what or how yet).

I thought of getting a traffic course which will be able to lay down the gorund work and traffic strategies and gradually learn them one at a time. I heard Traffic Grab from James Schramko is awesome! (any recommendations guys???)

About setting a milestone, I think 2 months should be a reasonable time for me to make at least $1??? But either way, once I begin this, I promise myself that I would NEVER ABANDON IT. I'll keep refining it until it nurtures

How much would you guys set aside for marketing per month (budget wise) ?

All comments are welcome I'm ready to keep an open mind towards anything that will help my business startup smoothly...

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers!

Just a suggestion, be careful with your outgoing links. Try and keep outgoing links to ones that will make you the most money.

Generally I don't put adsense on sites where I have other things I am actively promoting or where I have an opt-in form. It works fine for others, but I find that I do get less subscribers because they click off of my site too fast.

Even for any clickbank or amazon ads I have, I make them link to a review rather than directly to the product.

This is a very solid plan and the basic idea of niche sites.

Depending on traffic you could make that deadline, yes. I would suggest adding forum posting in a forum in your niche to your linkbuilding plan. Fine one that will allow a sig link. Most of the sites I did this with started making money right away due to the targeted traffic. Just be sure to actively participate instead of spamming the forums!

Hey Goliath... I think that you have it pretty much figured out.

The main thing for making money online is to take action and you did.

I believe the second most important thing is not to give up even if you had some failures and you didn't.

So you are on the right track, just keep moving forward and you will be successful.

As for how much I spend a month in marketing? Nothing. I create my own content and do my own link building. Once in a while I get some articles made, but I don't do this very often, so I don't really have a budget for it.

    Good luck with your project.
