Driving traffic with social media

Hello fellow Warriors. I was hoping to get some ideas and advice for promoting my new websites. The site was originally set up as my consulting site to generate leads. Since I decided to take a full time job and had little time for additional consulting work, I decided to change the site from lead gen to more of a platform.

The goal of the site is to bring together search engine optimization freelancers and SEO companies with people seeking SEO work on their websites, link building, SEO consultants, and so on. The benefit of the platform is similar to eLance or another service that matches buyers and sellers.

So I have a dilemma... I'm trying to generate traffic on both sides. I want SEO freelancers and SEO companies to sign up - they can do so for free - and individuals to find the site either organically or via paid search.

The site is up and running at Upward SEO but traffic is low. Organically I've started to rank for 'seo experts' and related terms. Any thoughts on how to use social media to drive more traffic? buyers? sellers?

Thanks Warriors!

Social media.. I keep seeing this term but no idea what it means.

Is this pretty much the same as Facebook/Twitter and stuff?

Ok just to clear this up so I'm not confused every time I see that term - social media is the same thing as social networking, correct?

If so, shuvo is right. Twitter and Facebook (just to name a few) are good sources of targeted traffic when they are used properly.

Also submit your site to StumbleUpon.

I've had traffic go from 2 hits per day to 500 hits the next day, just from submitting the site to StumbleUpon.

It basically shows you a random website, then you vote it up if you like it and it will bookmark it socially (your friends and everyone can see that you liked it, which gives you a better chance of pulling your page up) - or you can vote it down and it won't show it again.

Okay having a fan page and twitter account could always benefit your business. Especially if you use it to build relationships and customer service as well as using it to market your business. This is more than likely going to bring in customers though.

Now you are asking about how to get SEO freelancers and companies to come to you. Well for started you could go to the SEO part of the forum and ask them specifically. You could also find them through social media and contact them, let them know what it is you are offering them, and let them see what it is your company does. Personally I would do this, because it starts to build a rapport and relationship with these companies and freelancers and they will start to see you as a resource and go to guy.

So those are just a couple of thoughts I had. But really seeking out the companies and building a relationships is the key, in my opinion. =D

Create a network of relevent videos. Add to youtube, syndicate to your TLD.
    Presto, relevent traffic.

I just reread your post. Create relevent videos for each of your targets,
in your case it's the Freelancer and the SEO Companies. Several keywords
are relevent for both. Make a few snazzy vids and have them uploaded on
YouTube. Then syndicate these on other video sharing accounts pointing
    to your TLD.
