Hey guys,

Bit of a weird question, has anyone ever sold their internet marketing related info product business?

For example you've created a couple of products, built up your list and own a successful blog then sold that to someone?

Be interested to hear if it's possible and how you did it?

I'm actually doing that right now; my wife-to-be doesnt want me messing around with affiliate marketing anymore (been doing it a few years without hitting the millions). Check out my signature and you'll get the first basic steps.

    thanks NovaAffiliate.

Is this just an affiliate website or have you created your own products too?

For example could you sell a whole IM business:

    Sites you own (affiliate sites)
Products you created (courses / systems etc)
    Lists you built

I've done it several times on Flippa. The last one didn't sell for a decent price, but after the auction ended unsold, I got a private offer that was in the ballpark.

    Cool thanks.

Flippa would be the best place to sell IM businesses then?

Great Question. I have a couple of these I'd like to sell as well. I've looked into it & my stumbling block is migrating the list to the new owner. As far as I can make out if you transfer ownership they all need to opt in again? Would be great to get some feedback especially from sbucciarel.

That's probably the trickiest thing to transfer ... the list. Because they would have to opt in again if you just give the list to the buyer to use with his own autoresponder. I just gave the Aweber account to the buyer and changed all the billing details to his. I only had that one list on the account. I didn't know if that was possible, but it worked out fine. I got a new Aweber account for me.

Well, they already have the buyers there, so it takes the load of finding a buyer off of your shoulders, and Flippa buyers love sites that are making money.

Just be aware that if you ran it as a WSO, the new owner shouldn't run it as a WSO.

This thread makes that crystal clear

I have sold a few companies, a couple of them were Vendor products on clickbank. The sale price was 6 to 7 figures, depending on which project/company it was.

My personal key is this: I never start an IM project without first making sure I have an exit strategy. This is in addition to other types of planning, such as never starting an IM project (or any project) without an intensive marketing/revenue/business plan.

So for example, lets say I was creating an IM project, a CB Vendor that sold something electronic. My forecasting might suggest I have a passive income of $800 per day for that project.

I would then take the forecast, and the product, and the market at large into considerations, and then evaluate which other entities might exist that could obtain significant value from my Vendor product.

    Then I create the product.

Then I market it and start obtaining significant daily passive income.

While the passive incoming is continuing to come in, and my affiliate network and product reach goes, I start making inquiries to various companies who may benefit from the acquisition of my product.

Day 100 comes along. I've made massive daily passive income. No acquisition occurs, but I am fine with that. I am piling up the money daily. Nice nice.

Day 150 comes along, lookie here, I now have a company offering a 100x multiplier. I sell the Vendor project, buy a boat, and enjoy life.

    Make sense?

So the key is to never start a project without an exit strategy.

Really great answers guys. Makes a lot of sense. You know I always heard you need to build a business to sell but wasn't sure how to so it online with sites and lists etc.

Gives a whole new clarity and purpose to structuring my online businesses. Turns them from money makers into businesses.

      Thanks a lot,

      Rob
