Product idea... thoughts/advice please

So, I believe a good way to make money online is to make a product, and stick it on the likes of clickbank.

I've been thinking about an awesome martial arts video training course.

If I made a few of these, how would you recommend I'd best market it?

Do I just make a squeeze page, rank it well and have an affiliate programme?

Are there any WSO's on how to go about this... or is it easy enough to do?

    One quick question.

How did you come to the conclusion that an awesome martial arts video course would sell?

Well, that's just it... I'm not sure if it would or not... that's why I'm just looking for feedback now.

I've done a little bit of research, and there are people searching for such courses. Plus there's already similar ish products out there... so there must be a market.

OK cool. So you've established commercial viability.

What I would recommend now is checking out the competition in detail. Try to figure what they're doing and if they are making decent sales.

    Are their products on clickbank?

You should just treat it like any other info product out there. Sounds like you have a fair idea of what needs to be done.

In regards to WSO's, their are loads based on product creation. Do a search in the WSO section and check them all out. Pick the one that stands out the best

    Hope that helps

      Hi there,

Well I would say that creating a squeeze/landing page is always a good thing so that you can capture your leads, build a list and you might be able to add value to your market in other ways down the road so you want to be able to build relationships with them.

Can I ask how if you have gone out and joined forums or communities where this product would be looked for or welcome. If you have then you know what sort of market you have.

As far as deliver and marketing the product their really are a ton of ways to do it. What I would suggest is that if you are already part of a community that is interested in this niche that you start with them and get them to check out what you make.

You could make a membership community and add the videos as the content you put up.(That would be recurring monthly income) You could create a video series to be delivered on purchase either online or in DVD format. Usually having to create the DVD can be tricky you have know the reputation of the company you get to create and distribute them. Or you could hold webinars that your clients have to pay for to attend.

Now personally if it was me, I would go either the membership site, because of the recurring monthly income. Or if you do not want to hassle I would create the video series and sell it as an online product to be delivered digitally.

Then to market I would use video on youtube and maybe some free webinars to get the information out.

That is just my two cents on the process. Hope that it helps.

    That's not the only way.

I know someone personally who does about $60K a year selling his DVD's as physical products. The only thing is he has a good reputation in his martial art community and is quite controversial... something he's worked on through YouTube, Facebook and leaving a big martial arts organization with over 100,000 students in it.

He has no affiliate program and sells the through his website (as well as following up with emails). The advantage to selling the physical product is he definitely charges a premium price.

A lot of people do this in the fitness industry through their YouTube channels.

Going back to digital and affiliates...

There are a lot more martial arts (plus self-defence) course on Clickbank nowaday. No surprise that MMA is up there but the BJJ and Judo community have too which have a big, obsessive style following.

Hey Big Al, thanks for the info.

Do you have a link/name for this guy, I'd be interested to see his stuff.

      Cheers.

I think you can go either route, physical shipped product or digital download. Physical shipped products do have a higher perceived value though, however it takes more time and effort to set up cause u need to worry about the DVD duplication and distribution process as well. But these days you can do so easily with sites like kunaki.com who will be able to do it for you very cheaply.

Thanks for the link. I'm in China at the mo, so I'm sure I could get dvd's made up for even cheaper than that. But it's good to know about that site... maybe it is cheaper?

Whenever in doubt, get your market to direct you.

I would build a squeeze page, build a list and survey them.

Ask them straight out which format they would prefer/how they want to learn. You could even offer a digital copy for free (of the whole course or a portion) as a "thank you" for participating in the survey (and then get their feedback/testimonials on the videos which you can use on your squeeze page/site for extra strength).

    Hope that helps

Thanks, I like this idea... Make a rough copy, 20 min or so, and give it away free... build a list and survey

Yeah, exactly, no point in wasting time, money and effort trying to figure things out.

Make a quick, low cost or free "testing ground" to know what your market wants, and then deliver big time

Glad to be of help... all the best with it thedog... I'm sure you will do very well
